I remember Walton talking about the time he got arrested because he was laying down in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. in downtown LA as part of an anti-war protest. His coach, John Wooden, bailed him out of jail, and as he was driving him home, Wooden said to him, and I'm paraphrasing..."Bill, suppose your mother had a heart attack and the ambulance couldn't get to her because you were holding up traffic and she died. How would you feel?" Walton said that he was stunned, that he never thought of that consequence.
Walton was one of the most dominating players in CBK and most likely would have been one of the top 10 players in the history of the NBA had he remained healthy.
RIP.
