Scot is well known for his drinking problems, but he is also well known for his expertise in scouting and drafting. He was GM for 9ers and Redskins, this chart were the players that he drafted as a GM

He didn't miss much on drafting OL, Adam Snyder lasted 9 years in the league, Joe Staley was a 3 time all-pro, Brandon Scherff an all-pro, and Arie Kouandjio a journeyman. Scot didn't draft too many linemen, and he lucked into drafting most of them in first round, but hey, teams drafted plenty of busts in first round too.

Schneider was a friend of McCloughan, but somehow their friendship took a hit at some point. Maybe time for Schneider to reach out to Scot?

Has had a lot of personal issues, hence why he has fallen out of favor

So because you have had issues in the past means you don't get another opportunity? What if he has cleaned up his act?
From what I know about JS, he’s a very clean guy. No drugs or alcohol. Scot may have been a friend, but his personal demon of alcoholism could’ve been too much.

I’ve heard Scot is cleaned up and sober, but I doubt JS ever brings him in. Only way I see McCloughan comes back is if JS is gone and he’s made GM.

I wouldn't want scot as GM, but open to have him as as a consultant or scout.

He has a service, he helps other teams as a consultant already.

No, we seem to want the opposite of what we bring in, our lineman get cut move on and many have good careers. Not the scouting, it's how we want to use them, we get guys that are road graders but scheme says a guy that can pull, next coach we want guys that can pull and pass block but puts road grader system in place with guys light in the ass end but quicker.

Yea Scot wasn’t a good GM. To many demons. But really he was behind SF and Seattles success in their drafts. John has gotten somewhat better past couple years. But he still is god awful at lineman.

The offense linemen that Scot drafted were pretty good, can't say that about Schneider.

Scot was in Washington with Snyder and Allen, he was torpedoed from the get go, they were just trying to find out why he was so successful but wanted him to really have no authority.
