FUBO is my primary and today there will be change. Because I get the Ms on FUBO (Root) like a fool I thought we'd get the Hawks, too. With any luck I will have figured out what's better...YouTube TV, DirectTV stream or HULU + within the next few hours. FUBO has to go but I'll lose tons of Hawks and Dawgs games I have recorded. So be it. I won't be held hostage. Any advice on a better service guys?
When I cut the cord with DIRECTV satellite last year, I did the research and decided to go with HULU+ streaming... which has worked out pretty well except that HULU doesn't include Root Sports... so I added FUBO in order to get the Mariners games. Come late September or early October, I'll cancel FUBO and likely start it again come Spring.

I could probably get by with just FUBO all year except that my wife has learned to navigate HULU, and she won't want to start all over again with FUBO.

Thanks OAGS!

I am still a slave to FUBO as I type this. But I'm making strides. Yesterday I bought a Mini-PC. Hooked it up to the big screen last night and WOW. This really no different than mirroring your PC to the TV, but this is that without tying up my laptop (cuz I absolutely have to multi-task). Ms were off yesterday so I didn't get the chance to search online for the elusive M's game, but I certainly will this afternoon. I'm going to utilize a VPN to see if that helps. In any event, I know I'm going to love this mini-PC, even if I have to remain with FUBO. I'm a big boxing fan and online I have found free PPV boxing on several occasions. It won't take long to pay for this box.

Maybe you know this answer: I read somewhere that FUBO will let you freeze, for a lack of better words, your account. Cuz I hear ya, other than the Ms, I need FUBO for absolutely nothing. BUT....I'd sure hate to lose all the Husky games I have recorded on FUBO. So I'm wondering if this idea of freezing the account would save those games, with me not paying for the service until the Ms start up again next season? Of course I can contact FUBO for this answer but I post it here in case you or others would like to do the same.

Streaming through a cheap desktop PC is a great choice for those on a budget. As long as you have a good antivirus, modern browser, (I recommend Firefox), adblockers, something to mask your IP, (ProtonVPN is a great free option for US users), and you turn on the pop-up blocker you should be good to go. The safest site for live sport is foxsports dot com, (assuming it's on FOX - this is IP location specific). If not a good place to start is: freestreams-live dot my/. For current or past PPVs give: watchwrestlingup dot org/ or watchwrestling dot ae/ a whirl. Oh, and i'd recommend changing your DNS servers to Cloudflare, (also free).

I've been messing around with a browser called Brave. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I might as well just come clean: I know nothing about the DNS stuff mentioned by fly. But I am intrigued. Cloudware DNS...how would I implement such a thing?

I'm really enjoying this Mini-PC thing thus far. I'd like to velcro it to the back of the TV but that would make it hard to turn on and off. I mention this here because I was reading that some people never turn their PC off and it's less harmful to just leave it on. I wonder of that's true. Cuz if it is, I could bury the device while still keeping it well ventilated.

I messed around with Brave for a few days. It was ok. It was good for security/privacy and I could make even more use of the element blocker on uBlock. Ultimately I preferred Firefox because it's just so much easier to customise with add-ons or edit in the about:config settings. I like being able to alter the page zoom percentages to anything I want. My zoom levels are set to 1, 1.03, 1.07, 1.12, 1.18, 1.25, 1.33, 1.5, 1.7, 2, rather than the default 1, 1.1, 1.25, 1.5, etc. None of the modern browsers are bad but I still find Edge to be bloated and not viewer edit friendly.

This is the best page i've seen for basic DNS information and how to change it, (which is really easy). If anyone struggles to change it I can talk you through it. Before, (if), you do change it have a look first at what your PC does with your internet searches and how sites can see about your IP and your real location through DNS pings. If you're using default DNS, (which is normally Google), you are being constantly logged and traced. There's no guarantee that Cloudflare won't do the same, but there are other free DNS providers such as 9.9.9.9. Anyway, 2 test sites, (feel free to test your VPNs or real IP):

I have been playing with Brave for a while now too. It has adblocker already installed. But if you are using other browsers like firefox, probably need to add an app like Adblockerplus. It is in the applications area of the browser as an add-on.
As far as streaming the game, I am as lost as you are. However, Having not had a cord to cut, I purchased an antenna and have actually 2 outside for the bedroom and living room, one each. On those lines I have a Mediasonic dVR on each system with harddrive for storage. I can put up several of them for different channels. I have 3 HDMI inputs and Composite and external RG-6 wire input. Preseason comes on in the Treasure Valley on ABC normally and it is on at 5pm our time MST on Saturday. Also on AM 670 KBOI for radio. Also 93.1 FM.
Signal power for phone is sporadic in camp and I plan on being in camp this weekend.
P.S. With Brave as your main program, you can use LUXXLE as your search engine. It seems to be more free access to all things than other engines.

thats what I use for all types of games that i can’t get normally. Just make sure you have a good adblocker.
I have that site lower down on my streaming list as liveru dot sx. Good site for soccer and specialist sports. It's Russian based so there's a higher adware/malware risk. Russian sites also tend to harvest your personal details when and where possible. If you use Malwarebytes as your anti-virus you'll probably set off the klaxons. I do use ok dot ru/video, (which is also obviously Russian), for retro tv that I can't get elsewhere. fishkernfl dot com and nfl-video dot com for good for previous NFL games and i'm pretty sure those are Russian sites as well. Be careful.

Luxxle is available for Firefox but i'd never heard of it. I switched from Google to Startpage years ago and never looked back. (Duckduckgo was previously a waste of space). Would you recommend giving luxxle a go?

Need to have it on Brave or other internet provider. With Win 10 you get their ISP and it is not as compatible for unrestricted site generation. I had problems with the win product with Luxxle and ADblockerplus having issues.
I dont know if it would have problems with Firefox.

I've used Brave as an alternate browser for political content for a couple years, it is Chromium based and IIRC can use Chrome add-ons. Mainly I use speed controller add-on to speed up videos. I don't really use it the way you guys are talking, but it's been solid and reliable for how I use it.

Lately, I've switched to using Vivaldi as my primary browser rather than Chrome. Writing this in a Vivaldi tab now. It's also Chromium based and can use Chrome add-ons. Vivaldi has some infrequent crashes, about on par with Chrome in that department. I use the Workspaces feature in Vivaldi to segregate different types of browsing since I tend to keep way too many tabs open.

I was able to get the Seahawks-Chargers preseason game on YouTube TV through NFL network; the bad news, as others also observed, was it was called by Chargers homer announcers, useless to Seahawk fans; also I think it was delayed an hour. The good news: The 3 hour game was somehow condensed into 90 minutes.

Thank you all...some really great information above. Much of it difficult for me to understand but I appreciate all the tips and input just the same. "Every day is a school day" and all that. ;)

Almost a week has passed since I swore I was done with FUBO. I suppose I had this same apprehension when I cut cable but I continue to move in that direction. On Amazon, I bought this Mini-PC thing that patches into an HDMI slot on the back of the tele. So I've spent the bulk of my free time over this past several days trying to dial that in or adjust to it. It's called a

KAMRUI AK1PLUS Mini PC Alder Lake N97(up to 3.60 GHz),16GB RAM 512GB ROM Small Desktop Computer, Mini Computers Support 2.5" SSD (up to 2TB),4K,WiFi 2.4G/5G,BT4.2

I have to say the thing is pretty amazing. But when you're the dumbest guy in the thread, everything is pretty much amazing so YMMV. I have had no pop-up issues using Brave as my browser. I'm going to re-read some of the above and maybe go to another browser...baby steps.

So then I needed one in a bedroom and bought an even smaller PC to velcro to the back of the TV. This one :

GMKtec Mini PC Preinstalled Windows 11 Pro Intel N5105, 8GB RAM 128GB Hard Drive Desktop Mini Computer, Micro Computer with Dual HDMI 4K, Dual DDR4, Dual WiFi, RJ45 Ethernet, BT4.2

Unlike the first one, I am having all kinds of pop-up issues with this one, still using Brave. Now, I don't know what all the related numbers really mean on these gadgets. Clearly the first one is more powerful. But I wouldn't think more powerful equates to less exposure to pop-ups? It's going back and I've ordered a second Kamrui.

But all in all, I feel like I am ready to scrap FUBO, Hulu, Max, etc etc etc. and just find that content on line using these mini PCs. The inability to record is gonna hurt. Tonight Husky stadium has a bunch of Dawg stuff going on at the same time as tonight's Hawks game. So hopefully FUBO will have the Hawks game so I can record it. And this is certainly one reason I fear ditching Fubo. But damn it sucks. That aside, the only reason I have that network is because of the Mariners, and like the service itself, they suck too.

You're going to become the mini-PC guru here if you're not careful!
I wouldn't think Brave would behave differently in terms of popups based on the PC, but there are other factors involved, network configuration, version/edition of Brave installed (e.g. 64 bit vs 32 bit) and if any extensions are installed by default, etc. Also it appears both PCs are Windows-11 based, and if the edition of Windows 11 is different (e.g., Pro vs. Home) the Windows 11 Pro edition is probably going to be less spammy-pop-uppy than Windows 11 Home.

Good luck, and please keep us posted on how things turn out, and what works or doesn't!

Olyfan,

Thank you very much for that great insight. I know it's going to help me get this figured out cuz you're right, at least in this example, changing out the PC did nothing to reduce the pop-ups. Using Brave, I was trying to get to some shows on a site called Putlocker. It's now insisting I download something called "Popup blocker gold" and won't let me get past that spam (anymore). As I look at other sites, I'm not getting bombarded in the same way so I'm thinking Putlocker has been hijacked (?).

The new PC I installed, the Kamrui, appears to be probably twice as powerful as the smaller GMKtec model. And for whatever reason, the picture now appears to be much worse with this more powerful PC. In the LR, I have a new, pricey Samsung. The Kamrui looks great on that. In the bedroom, a much cheaper Hisense TV (that claims to be HD). Could it be the Kamrui is sending a signal that this Hisense TV is incapable of delivering? I'm going to switch them out again today to see if in fact the smaller GMKtec PC looks better on the Hisense TV. And if I have to upgrade this (new) Hisense, I certainly will (and I'll never hear the end of that, lol). Thanks again for all the help!

It irks me that this game is not being broadcast live in the Seattle area on a major network.

I'll just wait until 8:00 PM to watch it (on the NFL Network)... but I don't like it.
They play WNBA live, with a target audience of 2,000. Just like they waste broadcast time playing soccer for 10,000 but at least there is no football on to shunt to Kong.

DON'T install anything from a site like Putlocker.

Most of the tv/film streaming sites like Putlocker are ok for streaming but anything they ask you to install will almost certainly be malware or adware. If you need another streaming site for what you want start looking from here:

I did know better. But thanks again, Fly.

I'm started to feel like I may not be able to get free of the pay sites. I believe I have all the right equipment but I think the free sites must be streaming games and flicks at an inferior resolution to the pay sites. So I don't want to fall on my sword, trying to make a point, and wind up watching stuff that looks practically analog. But I'll keep checking it all out and I'll use your generous link as my next step. Thanks again.
