The loss to Baltimore doesn’t look as bad now that I see how they are squaring off with NE. Maybe our Hawks are as good as the record says!

Yes. Both Baltimore and New Orleans are better. Hence the 2 losses.

And the best kicker in NFL history just missed an XP for the Ravens. WTF?

The Saints had a punt return and a fumble return TD. The Ravens had a pick-6 and a fumble return. Our offense/special teams gifted both teams 14 points; those are extremely rare scoring opportunities.

And this week it was our defense gifting points with boneheaded plays. The reason we were down big early is because Wagner decided to shove Winston way late on a 3rd down stop, and Blair tipped an easy INT up into the air for a TD.

Most of our opponents success has come from self inflicted wounds.

Most of it has come from being 8th worst in yards allowed and 11th worst in points allowed. Mistakes add to it but the defense is consistently getting rolled. This team has allowed 20+ points in all but the Cardinals game. They've allowed 28+ in five of their games. And we're not seeing signs that it's going to get better.

Designing three tight end looks for pass and run sets in order to take advantage of their QB’s escape abilities looks like genius.

And a lot of those points came from special teams gaffes, dumb penalties giving teams another chance, and turnovers.

However you are correct in that it doesn't look like things will change. Dumb mistakes are a weekly thing with this team.

Seattle's loss to Baltimore was was by fewer points than the Patriots loss to them was last night.

Maybe things should be placed squarely in perspective?

The only 2 losses so far have been to New Orleans and to Baltimore.

Spotting any team 14 points like that is usually a recipe for disaster. Spotting good teams like the Ravens and Saints 14 points pretty much guarantees a loss. Clean up those disasters and it's either a win or a very tight loss in either case, and we'd have one of the very best records in the league. As it is, 7-2 still is one of the better records, and firmly in the playoff hunt with over half the season gone.

Does the same principle apply to the Bengals, Browns, Falcons, and Bucs?

7-2 and they beat all 4 of those teams. Niners barely beat a crap Zona team. But I guess it only applies to the Hawks "barely" winning.
I'm looking forward to more close ugly wins. :irishdrinkers:
