This injury has me real concerned for Jimmy's future. Reading the Rotoworld news snippet on the subject had this to say:

"Patellar tendon tears are arguably the worst injury a football player can suffer; it's the same injury that has debilitated Victor Cruz. We did a study on patellar tendon tears this offseason when evaluating Cruz, and very few -- if any -- NFL players have returned at the same level of effectiveness."

I hope he can buck the trend.

Any SOB who has ever, one time, said Russ should just throw it up for Graham better not bitch about that pass.

We are cursed when it comes to bringing in big name pass catchers.

One thing that will help Jimmy is his natural size advantage. A player like Cruz relies a lot on his speed and acceleration, whereas Graham will always be a threat because of his massive frame. Still, he probably won't be as explosive after this.

Although he won't be available for us this season, this is the best of all possible injuries.

How so? From what I have read and heard about patella tendons, ala Victor Cruz, this could be devastating.

Yeah, I'm hoping to hear some medical wizardry from northseahawk here, because other reports are less promising. I don't personally know much about recovery from patellar tears in pro athletes.

Maybe I'm the only one the comment bothers, and that's cool, too. None of the posters making the comments are bad posters who write inflammatory things a lot, so I'm not going to go out of my way to continue fighting it. We're all on the same side here in the end.
I appreciate that. I'm definitely not trying to fight anyone. And as you note, I have not been vocally critical of Russell or usually inflammatory.

But game after game I've been wondering why the heck he consistently throws behind and below Jimmy. The guy is huge. The errant passes seemed like "adjustment time" and Russell would eventually start to dial it in once he got used to Graham's routes and style. Earlier in the game Russell did hit him in stride.

But this poor throw happened to result in an extremely awkward position and season-ending injury.

A pinpoint pass is a TD. Lots of QBs could make it. That's all I'm saying.

It was an incredibly unfortunate play in a lot of different ways, and the throw certainly contributed. I don't think we fundamentally disagree - I was just reacting to the way it was said.

I just hate to think a moment like that could derail Jimmy Graham's career. I feel bad for him and, selfishly, for the team as a whole.

I guess I look at it differently than those who get up in arms saying that the throw put Graham in position to get injured.

No one is saying Russell meant to under throw him and cause him to get injured.. just that if the throw were more accurate or overthrown, he's probably not injured.

But anyway - really hope for the best for Jimmy. That is a really nasty injury.

According to Rodney Harrison on the SNF halftime report, Luke Willson is a more complete TE and a better fit for the Seahawks offense anyway.

Luke Willson has had some games he's absolutely balled out. Cardinals game in AZ last year, IIRC, was one.
Let's hope there are plenty of those the rest of this season.

We'll miss Jimmy. He was becoming a better and better fit each week. His blocking was steadily improving. He had bought in. Bevell and Russell learned how to use him. Speedy recovery, Jimmy.

Gronk just took a hit to his knee and had to get carted off. Could you imagine the NFL losing it's top two TE's in the same day?

I'm going to check the Patriot forums to see if they're blaming the injury on Brady.

Damn. Just when it's obvious we finally figured out how to use him. And with him buying in as a bonus. Hopefully JS shows what he's made of in the off season especially given you can actually trade those useless compensatory picks for something useful.

I definitely did a double take when I heard that. Graham isn't exactly a great blocker, but he's somehow managed to be the best blocking TE on the roster. The only thing Willson has on Graham is straight-line speed.

Sucks that we lost him, and on a personal level I just feel really bad for Jimmy.

Blaming Russel for the injury... seriously?

Are we sure it wasn't Obama's fault?
