Who can we get at number 5?

An all time fleecing. Certainly makes up for the Adams trade or Percy etc.

People complaining that the Hawks had to "settle for the 5" is beyond hilarious

Someone was claiming there's only 4 good players in the draft. You gotta' love the classics.
Probably Fade although we won and made the playoffs so he’ll probably disappear again for a while lol

Well, Pete clearly had NOTHING to do with this team making the Playoffs. I mean, this YOUNG team.

If they can snag a Woolen-level talent in the fifth round again, I don't even care if the top 5 pick isn't All-World and is merely just a competent starter.

On another note, the only proper way to define the "youth" of a team is from the perspective of if the talent core is on rookie deals. In other words, if most of the top talent is on a rookie deal, then he natural, inherent culling process (turnover) will get the average age trending downward as an inevitable outcome over time.

Throw in a thousand yard rookie running back and they had a helluva rookie class maybe the best draft class all time for this franchise

I’m cool with 5 but, there’s a growing emphasis on the value of the first 4 vs “the rest”.

Young
Carter
Stroud
Andersen

Can’t hate on #5!

It’s rolling the dice no matter how you view it.

I think the #3 pick was significant because that was team Russell’s number… very fitting!

Yeah, that would have definitely been poetic.

The memes could have been epic.

Ya know what, for me this raises a curious question.

I’d be curious to know the stats (I’m certainly to lazy to do the research) but if we were to take all the 1-4s as a group and all the 5-8s as a group.
I wonder historically what group actually had the most impact in the NFL.
OBVIOUSLY “impact” is a bit subjective but…

Categories like
SB appearances
First year starter
HOF inductees
Years in service
Pro Bowl selections
Actual games played in.

I’m just throwing out some bait for folks that actually enjoy looking this stuff up.

personally, I suspect the drop off isn’t all that significant (if any) if we looked at every draft ever.

Obviously some years there would be a huge drop off but I’m not talking about any single year.

Not directed at you for any specific reason, just seemed like a reasonable place to drop my turd.

The draft is a crap shoot, plenty of high choices turn out to be busts, sometimes Mr. Irrelevant does OK, just check him out on Saturday...
