I’ve had a lifetimes worth of coach speak at all levels, high school to the pros, sick of the BS.
The best coaches do frequent and honest self evaluations and learn and adjust from their own mistakes.
Bad coaches just bloviate and keep making the same mistake over and over and expect different results.

Reminds me of a story Chris Hitchens told second-hand about a p-o-w in Vietnam having a horrible nightmare, from which his cellmates mercifully woke him up. Upon waking, the dude having the nightmare says with relief, "oh thank goodness, I thought I was back at boarding school."
