That sucks, best wishes to his family.

I loved when he use to do games, you just never knew what he was going to say, plus he introduce America to the Turduckin, had never heard of it before he started talking about it.

He was hilarious in the movie "The replacements". Great coach and announcer.

RIP John

When I started watching football in earnest, the Raiders coached by John Madden, Dolphins coached by Don Shula, Steelers coached by Noll, and Cowboys coached by Tom Landry were the dominating teams. That 1977 team that went to SB was terrific. They had Otis Sistrunk and Matuszak on DL, Ted Hendricks at LB, and Jack Tatum in the secondary. He had a guy nicknamed "the snake" as his QB. Upshaw, Shell on the OL, with Casper at TE, Fred B and Cliff B as WRs. That was a fierce team.

RIP Coach Madden.

Sad day. Just watched a special on him a few days ago, can't believe he is gone.

The reason fans my age all think that every color commentator of the last 15-20 years sucks is because we grew up watching John and he simply set a bar for that job that is impossible for others to reach.
