A few of you are getting too hung up on "first round" picks. If the second round picks are #40 and #60 this year then they are as valuable as a mid 20s pick in 2024. A pick three drafts from now isn't nearly as valuable as a pick in this draft.

QBs are expensive because you cannot win without them.

Sure you can squeak into the playoffs one year, or maybe have a stacked roster and (best case) go to the SB one year with a backup QB. But to win consistently year after year, you have to have a top tier franchise QB.

Those are expensive because you have to have them to be a consistent playoff threat.

We no longer have one so we are no longer one of the winners in the league.

I suppose if this is the price we have to pay to run Carroll out of this team, maybe it is worth it.
But it is a heavy price to pay.

The good news is that it looks like Carroll is absolutely going to burn everything down before we can drive him off, which means we will probably suck badly enough to get a few spins of the wheel at a top QB again.

The other good news is that Seahawk merch is going to get much, much cheaper in a year or two.

Word is Houston wants 3 1sts a roster player and later pics for Watson and isn't budging and we gave up Russ with no sexual assault baggage for less

Let us know when Houston actually trades Watson, not whatever insane price they're asking for a player that still might not even play for another year or two.

Ain't no one trading three first rounders for a QB who's still embroiled in legal troubles.

He's settled most of his cases, sounds like he'll get the rest dome and while it may mean he's a piece of $h!t he's talented and young. Teams are in on him and his price tag just went up as the last elite qb left out there

He hasn't settled anything.

In fact a judge just ruled last month that Watson can be deposed in nine of his civil cases..............and most importantly the DA has until April 1st to decide whether to pursue criminal charges.

https://www.espn.com/blog/houston-texan ... ton-texans

So again, terrible example of why you don't like this trade.

Get back to us when Watson actually does get traded, and for what. Not some fictitious scenario you'd created.

The real question is: can we scheme around the next QB in a way that we were unable/unwilling to around Wilson?

Wilson's replacement will likely not be as durable (so you can't just let him get hit needlessly) or as athletic.

On Watson, Would it matter?

If Watson isn't in jail, I would take him. He would help us.

His accusers have some dubious credibility and clear incentives to level the accusations. Enough doubt for me to say, if he is available - might as well make a play for him. That is about the only option to recover right now.

Wanting and getting are 2 different things.

I want a million dollars for my baseball card collection.
Sadly, I won’t be getting it.

Salary cap question....

Without looking, I assumed we'd be saving money even though we'd have to take a hit for dead money. I just looked it up, and if I am reading it correctly, he's currently looking at a $24 million cap number with salary and bonus for Denver and a $26 million dead money hit on our cap. So after figuring dead money we would have added in to his contract money we are saving $11 million in cap space, but Denver is actually taking a smaller hit at $24 million to have him on their team, then we are taking to trade him away.

Is this correct?

Jamal Adams (like him a lot) was a massive overpay given this haul for a franchise QB.
Choosing Dee Eskridge over Creed Humphrey at the time was a massive miss but now that they're supposedly out looking for a #3 makes it even worse.
Drew Lock is a complete wash in this. Haven't seen anything from him besides back-up QB.

So, where do we go?

Noah Fant is a massive upgrade at TE.

DL class is absolutely loaded. Only QB I'm kind of interested in is Matt Corral. Seahawks should be able to get 2 long term DL starters this year and have a top 10 choice finally. I sure hope they take the top 10 talent and don't trade it back.

Hope the offense is more Jared Goff Rams than Russell Wilson Seahawks. Waldron has to scheme players open given the likely upcoming limitations at QB for at least next year. DK in space is exciting. Cannot expect gorgeous deep sideline shots anymore.

Tyrod Taylor makes sense as a camp body competition given his skillset.

Lot of money now that Russ isn't getting a big next contract. They cannot miss again signing a BUNCH of average depth players for starting jobs. Starting talent needs to be signed.

I hope John Clayton eats some serious crow.

I'd like to never have to hear Clayton again, him and the various other "sports personalities". Seriously, for me it's cause for termination or just banning them from ever prognosticating on various radio and TV shows.

For over the past year Clayton has either gas lit or showed extreme incompetence. And it's not just him. How much did we hear...

- It's just clickbait
- Some media making stuff up (thanks for confirming you were full of it John and Pete)
- It doesn't make sense and can never happen
- Wilson sort of sounds like he kinda wants to possibly stay
- Evidence does not and cannot exist.

The fact that many of us non-sports commentators called this better than the supposed real commentators shows the sad state of sports coverage in Seattle. Just because a truth is uncomfortable doesn't mean you avoid it.

Ain't no one trading three first rounders for a QB who's still embroiled in legal troubles.

We paid 2 first rounders for a one trick pony safety and the Broncos gave up 2 and players for a QB who turns 34 in november. Watson is 26, very well rested, and apparently has the best massage therapy regiment in the game. I think if it looks like his legal stuff is not going to explode, he could easily get 3 firsts.

Wait. What? Legal stuff not going to explode? Source? Link? Because everything I read says the opposite.

Not to mention..we can’t offer as much as a team like Washington to get him. What am I missing?

I did say IF it looks like it's not going to explode. I don't really know what's going on with it. Just speculating. If his issues just fade away into the background or are settled then I don't see how they get less than three 1's for him.
