Fade has a one track mind. Pete is a teacher and facilitator for the people he see as having potential to grow into head coaches. He is not the one dictating the defensive scheme. He is giving Hurtt the chance to grow into a great DC. It was the same with Norton Jr. What Fade has right is that Carroll has chosen poorly the people he believes he can bring along. Hurtt does not have it. Norton did not have it. Richard had potential, but seems to have sputtered out. Hurtt, like several other coaches last season had their chance because he is part of the Fangio tree. The problem is that the league figured out the Fangio system two years ago. Almost every team that hired Fangio tree coaches last season struggled throughout the year. He was hired by the Dolphins to return to the NFL this season, so we will see what he has up his sleeve for changing his system. His team gave up thirty-four points today.

I hated the Hurtt hire then, and still hate it. It's nice to see so many others jumping onboard, but to sit there and go, "it's just Pete" when he gives his coaches too much leash until they prove they can't do it, is short sighted.

You realize you just blamed Pete for the issues too right? Whats the difference if he's the one calling the schemes or the one keeping incapable coaches because he's a poor judge of character? The results are the same and the problem points to the same person. Whats the answer?

Pete is to blame. Has been for years. I have never said otherwise. He is the one that is promoting and hiring lack luster coaches and has been for years. Weird that you might think otherwise given your years long crusade.

Ok so what should be done about Pete?

Who ever was in charge failed to adjust at all today and I think it was Hurrt rather than Pete.

Fade is a one note poster, it’s always Pete that is the villan.
How many DC's has Pete thrown into the volcano in the past few years? When are people going to start holding him accountable for our defensive woes and quit throwing the DC under the bus?

Pete is supposed to be the best defensive mind in this century. It's been an absolute embarrassment and no matter how bad this defense performs, fans are still so damn willing to give him a pass.

It's obviously early, and I'm not prepared to call for Pete's head yet, so I'll hold my peace on that subject for the time being. But I'm sick and tired of all this excuse making for Pete.

DK Metcalf was flagged for a taunting penalty and safety Quandre Diggs was called for a personal foul away from the play in the closing minutes of the loss.

“I thought we lost our minds a little bit and we’ll talk about that,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “That shows you the frustration and based on the expectation that we were going to be better and not in that situation. I don’t like seeing this look, that looks terrible. We’ll talk about that.”

We'll talk about that? I realize that he's not going to say anything more corrosive in a press conference, but I sure hope to hell that he does more than just talk.

Everyone was teeing off on Fade because he predicted the defensive product we saw today based on preseason observations even though it was basically the same embarrassing defensive product we been watching for the past season after season. At least possible he isn't wrong?
He also said that the Rams are "tanking it"

Great thread. I like PC. In the past, not as much. But he’s a winner and the things he did with last year’s team was incredible.

But I’m beginning to think the best we’ll do under him for the foreseeable future is a wild card and/or early exit in the playoffs.

Some teams would trade places for that kind of performance in a heartbeat.

Can’t let last games rushing yards fool you. We’re very weak up front. I too don’t understand how you build a defense from outside in. And if we’re so strong in the secondary, how do we get burnt in the passing game? No pressure up front. Bottom tier QBs can have a field day when they aren’t being pressured.

PC is the man in charge. Norton…Hurtt….they report to PC.

What’s the answer?

Provide a link or stop spreading this lie. Literally no one thinks this. Bill Belichick exists. He is the one that fits this phrase on almost every web page and video that addresses this lie you and PNW continue to spread.

You keep saying this but I’ve heard multiple people talk about Pete as being one of the best defensive coaches ever. Multiple teams tried to copy Pete’s formula for defense after the success of the LOB. I’ve heard it in multiple interviews, ex coaches, players etc. for sake of argument let’s say Bill B is one. Who’s two? I’d argue Pete is in the conversation.

I also think it’s a little off to say Pete is completely hands off the defense when we’ve had similar problems for YEARS now with multiple DC’s. It’s just not how the NFL works. I guarantee Pete has a voice in that room, a big voice. He may not call every single play in game but he is definitely a part of the game plan, adjustments etc.

One of the best DB coaches is what I’ve always heard.
We’ve had some success there…

But, everything else, especially the big dogs up front, have been lackluster for years.

So, no evidence, just your word. Almost every single football show has videos of their segments on youtube. Almost every article posted online does not simply disappear. Any link will do to support your assertion.

Pete's the best HC that we've ever had, and I'll be eternally grateful to him for the best period of Seahawk football in franchise history.

It's a figure of speech, for crying out loud. It's as if you were to say that you busted your balls to do something and me asking you to provide proof of you smashing your testicles.
