Most Dangerous playoff matchups for the Hawks?

Maybe it's just because I've been a devil's advocate my whole life, but I think I might have to place Detroit above Dallas. The Lions are a lot like the Rams in that they play dirty, and can make a game ugly. But they also have an offense with real weapons, and you never know when those weapons...

Aros' Fearless Prediction Thread (Cardinals @ Seahawks)

Not going to hazard a game prediction--I think I'll jinx things. But if the Hawks lose this week we will see momentum rolling the losses up, to 7-9 or 8-8.

Random Thoughts™ on the Broncos SB slaughterfest

Regarding the MVP choice, I think you simply had to go with defense. A thinking man could've made the case for Kam, and a contrarian the case for Avril, but Malcolm Smith definitely deserved it. Had Harvin scored another TD, he might've gotten it. Wilson? He was brilliant. But his TDs came...

Next years Thursday night season opener

It's in Seattle, no matter who the opponent is, right? So it'll be ugly. Well, beautiful, for us. Teams will all be lobbying Goodell to avoid that opening matchup.

Random Thoughts™ on the Broncos SB slaughterfest

"Turbin rule"--nice. He's lost at least a hundred yards on holding calls. Strange, really. I thought the refs called a good game, actually. Not measuring on the challenge was weird, and had me swearing at the TV, but if anything, the Hawks got the benefit of a few non-calls throughout the...

Out of state Hawk fans, speak up.

Thanks for this thread! Born in Bellingham, but haven't lived in PNW since a toddler. Became a Seahawks fan in 1981 at age 7, in Wisconsin, because the Seahawks were from my native state. And in addition to Packers fans around me there were plenty of Cowboy and Steeler bandwagoners. So I...

    Whitlock on Cowherd

Can't imagine a SB littered with flags? Neither could I, until XL, unfortunately

Looks like we shouldn't even show up on Superbowl Sunday....

Jeffri? With an i? Aww, that's sweet. I bet he likes the Broncos for their pretty orange unis, too.

Small crowd might have actually hurt a bit?

The small, unenthusiastic crowd made this game more like a scrimmage in an empty barn, and consequently the team seemed flat throughout. I might imagine that a howling hostile horde might have pumped up the players a bit more, here and there. Heightening the sense of a trap game, perhaps. Not...

    What's worse, oline or Bevell?

Coaches can make adjustments. ESPECIALLY when players have physical shortcomings--you don't put slow corners in man-man, for example. This is on the coaches, pure and simple.

    Farwell deserves a game ball

Jean-Philippe Darche! Wow, that's great. I'd forgotten that. Holmgren even said "merci beaucoup" to him in the locker room, as my season DVD noted in that game.

Test to see who is a lifetime Hawks fan vs. a bandwagoner

Ron Essink, T/G from the late Patera days. Grand Valley State University's finest ever. Paul Johns, WR, also late Patera. Big-time deep target, not quite as good as McCallum before or Turner afterwards. I have a weakness for Patera and Ericson era Seahawks. Don't know why, but I got attached...

    Colts on third down

This is why we brought in Antoine Winfield. I'm still not sure he wouldn't have helped in this one. Luck's pocket presence is another reason. Most other quarterbacks would've gone down more often. I'm not overly worried, since this team now has a pass rush on the road. That's already better...

    Remaining Saints schedule

I'd like the #1 seed, but it isn't as important anymore, not the way this team plays on the road. A #2 seed would be fine, IMO. That is, it's not the end of the world if this team goes 13-3 and finishes second to the Saints. It just makes the NFC championship game a little more interesting...

    Holmgren revisited.

In the second half, I did notice a lot of second-down pass calls. So in contrast to last year, where Bevell called run-run-pass (and then punt, early in the year), it was run-pass-pass (punt, if RW doesn't scramble). I do wonder if a few more smashmouth runs would have helped make the third...
