That Hart made it through is surprising, but a great opportunity to keep him around, too.

I can provide some insight on Shepley. He played on my favorite CFL team in 2019 (yes I know what some people probably think of the CFL). He had a try-out with the Jets before landing there (Sask. Roughriders). I see him listed as Tackle but he played Guard here. He got thrown in as a starter mid-way through game 1 and played well a a rookie. Honestly I think he was as good as the vet he replaced and there was no improvement later in the year when the vet came back and Shepley was back on the bench. At that time he would play the TE role when the team went with the heavy formation with an extra lineman.

It's a big leap for a lineman to make the jump from CFL to NFL but he's a talented kid.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts ..............

The more a player can do the more valuable they become in navigating thru an entire season. I'd enjoy seeing heavy 6th lineman formations this year. I broadens the play book.

Similar role yes. I should add when the Riders drafted him in the first round of the CFL draft a lot of people laughed at them saying it was a wasted pick, because he was "too good". Drafting Cdn players in the CFL is tricky. The best guys don't go early as it's considered a bad pick because the guy will have an NFL shot first and you won't see him for a few years at best. (for example Chubba Hubbard and Chase Claypool were late round picks). Shepley was a guy that teams were expected to stay away from due to his NFL potential.

So, they gotta cut 3 once the Sidney Jones move is official, right?

They were at 52 ....... so mandated to cut only 2 to make room for the two they picked up off of waivers.

Shepley has nice versatility but they've released both Simmons and Haynes now so it looks like they are thinking of him as a guard initially.

Not sure I agree with them prioritizing G/T flex players like Shepley, Jones and Ogbuehi. Curhan and Forsythe seem like promising developmental tackle prospects so is it really that important if all of our backup guards can also play tackle? Haynes seemed better as a pure guard than ether Jones or Ogbuehi.

Interesting:

“Warrior, who is the son of former NFL standout Dale Carter, played safety at Tennessee and entered the league this season as an undrafted free agent.

“He was said to be off to a strong start with the Ravens before suffering a leg injury early in camp. He returned to play 63 snaps in the Ravens’ final two preseason games, listed by Pro Football Focus as playing right cornerback.

“Seattle has potential injury situations with two defensive backs — cornerback Tre Brown and safety Ryan Neal — and adding someone able to play both spots could mean the Seahawks are looking for depth.”

I hope Haynes clears and makes it to the practice squad.

Seattle had to make two moves to get each onto the 53-man roster. And in something of a surprise, the Seahawks opened up one spot by waiving guard Phil Haynes, according to a report from the NFL Network. Haynes had appeared to have a solid preseason with Seattle at guard, and also dabbled a little bit at center, in what was his third season with the team after being taken in the fourth round of the 2019 draft out of Wake Forest.

Sometimes I forget that while coaches and the FO evaluate Seahawk players during training camp and preseason games, they're also watching and evaluating players on the other 31 teams.
