Just like Mahomes Josh Rosen was taken at 10 as a QB with "generational upside" and he led the Cards to the No 1 pick.
I know far less than any HC / GM about assessing college players for how they will play in the NFL in 2 or 3 years time but history has shown it is a lottery. Selecting 1st overall you have a higher chance of a win then selecting 10th overall and a 2nd rounder has a lower chance again, so are you better off with more lottery tickets or one good one?
My thought is our Defence is so bad at the moment we would be better off with 3 or 4 solid starters from the draft than one superstar to play alongside a bunch of back-up quality players at best. Trading No 2 down a couple of times we could end up with No7 alongside a couple of 2nd rounders and a 3rd giving us 6 picks in the first 2 rounds and 2 more in the 3rd, if we nail the draft like last year that is a whole load of generational talent.
We can leave getting a QB with "generational talent" until the 6th round and get someone like Tom Brady
