Thanks Ivotuk.
Hasselbeck's and Evans' differing views on the confidence of O linemen were very entertaining.

I was shocked at how good that Heath Evans interview was!

The other thing I enjoyed, was Ray Roberts calling in and tweeting because he was unhappy with Hasselbeck's take on OLinemen.

But I think Matthew was going for something different than describing OLinemen in general, but instead was trying to prepare Seattle listeners and broadcasters for some early struggles on the OLine. My take is that Matt was shooting for getting people to be more patient, and to give the Offensive Line some slack, and hopefully more support. Because the struggles last year, and what may come this year, is not the fault of the players, but of the fact that there has been so much turn over.

Hass' focus, imho, was very narrow, focused on the current offensive line, and not global, not including anyone outside of the current Seahawks.

My favorite sound byte "Get in the frickin huddle!"

Arizona cracks me up, they literally have an excuse for everything, why they lose - why we win, etc.

Here's the deal: in the last four years the Seahawks have 7 playoff wins - the little birds? 1, yes, one whole playoff win. In the last two meetings the Seahawks have averaged almost 36 points a game against their vaunted defense, yet, they are the new power in the NFC West? Right.

I always think it's funny when people say another team "lucked" out in some capacity because why does it matter? They still have the player, the circumstances behind the acquisition don't change the fate of the team.

The Pats lucked out on Brady, but that doesn't take away their 6 SB appearances.

Poor Cardinals will have to fret us "lucking" out on Wilson for another 10 years.

Well it's true through. But like you mention the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, 49ers and nanny others got just as "lucky" down through the years.

Joe Montana was a 3rd round draft choice and whether or not you think he's the GOAT or not, he's deep in the conversation. So yeah, 9ers "lucked out" just like the Pats with Brady, Pack with Favre (should've been a Seahawk......damn you Ken Behring!), etc,
Johnny Unitus was signed off a sandlot for heaven's sake!
Ken Stabler played sandlot/minor league football in Spokane before developing into a HOF QB with Oakland.

There's a lot more stories just like these. Projecting college football players' performance as NFL players may be the toughest thing in all of sports.

There is no "luck" per se, the Seahawks chose RW, they weren't gifted him. What's more, is they chose him and 31 other teams didn't choose him. The more relevant question, as regards the little birds, is, why didn't they choose him?

"Seahawks lucked out drafting Russell Wilson"

Re-order the words:

"Russell Wilson lucked out being drafted by the Seahawks"

That's a more accurate statement.

And it's not as much of a Wilson knock as you think.....just a little bit....I have to, haha.

Because he went to a team that:

1. Allowed him to compete with the starter job. I completely forget that they ever signed Matt Flynn.
2. Tailored an offense around him - I think as far as NFL offenses go, none are as tailored to their QB like Bevell's to Wilson. (Shula and Cam a close second)
3. Lynch
4. Carroll and his defense
5. Home field advantage of The Link

Not even the Harbaugh 49ers did this much for Kaepernick except for #3 and #4......#1 relied on Smith's concussion, who knows when he would have played if not for that. #2 they did to an extent but gave up on it, and I also think HaRoman was not quite as good as Bevell....considering the 49ers had more offensive talent. #5 no team outside Kansas City can match that type of HFA.

What did Luck's Colts and Griffin's Redskins do for them? Surely if Wilson went to those two teams they wouldn't have done any more for him...probably less.

What people forget to mention, is that Schneider wanted to draft Russell earlier, but he trusted his draft board and held off until the 3rd round. Talk about "having a pair." John's got 'em.

You'd have to be a special kind of stupid NOT to build your Offense around a Quarterback like Wilson.
As for Lynch, Wilson showed last season, that he had the ability to light it up without having the Beast to help carry the load eh?
Carroll and his Defense didn't do it all by themselves either...It took Wilson and his Offensive half of the TEAM to round it all out.
If Kaepernick was as capable, studied the films, stayed late and worked as hard as Wilson, maybe Harbaugh would have given a lot more consideration to tailoring the Offense around him...As it was, the 49rs O-Line was a LOT better in Pass Protection than what the Seahawks had for Wilson.
Home field advantage?, same can be said for 80% of the teams in the NFL.
