We had 13 million dollars of cap space just a few days ago:

https://seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=174131

We just lost $6,000,000 of our remaining cap space for this season... and whatever we did with it was so underwhelming and pathetic I can't even find it in the news...?

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space/

We now only have $7,000,000 remaining... this is still among the most flexible positions of NFL teams I think we are ranked 12th with our remaining cap space... haha...

But seriously what are they doing with our remaining cap space. $6,000,000 just dissapeared and I have no idea where it went, maybe someone knows?

We had $13,000,000 days ago... what are they waiting for? Who are they looking for??? I don't get it... KJ Wright still isn't on the team and we have a trash offensive line and only 2 quality WR????????????????!

Pretty sure the practice squad counts against the cap.

It does, and now with 16 players on it, and higher salary for vets, the PS takes a higher allocation of the cap.

Or maybe it's Ciara's fault. We shouldn't discount this possibility.

In pre-season, 51 players count against the cap. Now 53 + 16 count against the cap. ;)

The Seahawks do this every year. They have high priced backups on the roster that siphon space unnecessarily. This year it's Flowers, Ogbuehi (should've been cut weeks ago w/injury settlement.), Rashaad Penny. It's actually not as bad as year's past now that I'm looking at it on OTC. Usually I find about 6-8 players every year that shouldn't be on the roster for salary cap reasons. Trading Witherspoon helped big-time.

Flowers is the head scratcher, but Pete loves him so there's that. Spending $2.4M on the practice squad, moving Flowers nearly covers that.

The salary cap is easy to manipulate anyway, the Seahawks can create more room on a whim if they need it. If you're worried about them being able to make more moves that is.

I wonder if the money that disappeared from the cap has been assigned to the redo of Brown's contract and or to Diggs as well.

September 3rd was about the time the numbers for the practice squad were added by OTC.

Plus they added Sidney Jones $1,288,235 - $600,000 = $688,235 .... plus a couple of others.

It's also about the time roster churn moved additional money to the dead cap category which is also applied to the team cap.

Phil Haynes $172,718
Pierre Desir $137,500
Damarious Randall $137,500
Aldon Smith $137,500
Jordan Simmons $100,000

Cedric Ogbuehi was moved to the Injured Reserve List in about that same time frame.

Collectively, a lot of cap money moved around and added all at once.

The expected cost for the 16-man practice squad is just over $3M for the year. The cap year runs March to March but the signing bonus/dead money runs June to June.
