They aren't pandering to anyone, they are spending less money by not doubling up on the broadcasters. The teams are already paying individually for people to broadcast their games, so why would the NFL Network pay 2 more people for each game of the pre season when it's not necessary?

Also, do you honestly think that these guys are going to even know most of the names on a 90 man roster? Seriously, they get the names of starters wrong often enough. At least with team announcers you actually can get some decent information on the guys on the field during the pre season

WAit what? The teams arent paying these guys. This is still being paid for by teh network affiliates. This is their show. The networks are paying two crews. They paid teh seattle crew and the denver crew last night to broadcast on fox, 2 different shows, in 2 different markets.

Where did you think this was a team thing paid thing, or even an NFL paid thing for that matter?

What are you talking about? Local affiliates are the ones broadcasting the game and they do so in agreement with the individual teams. Last night's game had nothing to do with the national FOX network and wasn't on across the country (except the replay on the NFL Network).

Who do you think owns those local affiliates?

Other companies....that's kind of why they are called "affiliates". FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS has programming. Affiliates are able to get that programming. There are fees involved, but local stations aren't (for the most part) owned by the networks

Adding a link here that might explain it better than I can:

[urltargetblank]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_affiliate[/urltargetblank]

In the broadcasting industry (particularly in North America), a network affiliate (or affiliated station) is a local broadcaster, owned by a company other than the owner of the network, which carries some or all of the television program or radio program lineup of a television or radio network. This distinguishes such a television station or radio station from an owned-and-operated station (O&O), which is parent network owned.
