The way the NFL is officiated and marketed is to the elite franchise quarterback. If you are lucky enough to find one you to protect him at all costs and constantly manage the parts around him to maximize his effectiveness and prolong his career. As good as a running back or defender is, his peak years pale in comparison to the average career of a franchise quarterback. You would need 3 Marshawn Lynch’s back to back to back to equal the same lifespan. Most defensive players can’t afford lose a step without being a shadow of their peak selves.
Just like Brees, Ben and Brady have survived with huge turnover around them, I believe Wilson will return to the playoffs multiple times. Sometimes change is rocky and the road isn’t always consistent but I trust that Wilson is a special player and when the pieces fall into place again the Hawks will rise again
