Should just throw away the emphasis on not getting beat deep. They are getting beat anyways, so might as well jump routes and send the house with man coverage. If you are giving up points anyways Better to give up a quick score, giving their D less rest and ours less time on field getting gashed

That's my thought. They're going cover 2 because Pete doesn't trust any safety of the roster to play single high so it's really conservative but they are giving up almost a league high amount every week anyway. QB's are just throwing 5-8 yard passes with ease and they turn into 10-15. LBs are stuck playing zone deep in the middle of the field because of the safety zones.

I said something similar a few weeks ago and Wyman said it again tonight, Pete has trust issues with them still and is playing it safe, only late did we go to a man coverage and it looked better.

This is where I'm at. This defense is not unlike our really good ones in the past. They give up the underneath stuff. They struggle to get pressure (which we've always struggled with even in our good D years). The difference is that we're not right on top of the underneath routes to hold them to minimal gains like in the past and to boot, when we are there, the first guy misses the tackle! With all that being said ,at this point in the season, go press man and live with the consequences. We'll get beat some, but we'll also make more plays and I think Russ is more than good enough to take care of the rest. As long as we don't get beat every series, we'll be fine and we may just get more turnovers/defensive TDs

Maybe Quinn can come back after this season.

Gus Bradley dropped his 4/3 over/Cover 3 Seahawk defense and now runs a successful 3-4 with the Chargers
Robert Saleh dropped his 4/3 over/cover 3 Seahawk defense and now runs a successful wide 9 with the 49ers

The Falcons try to run the same defense as us and we saw how bad they are under Quinn.

Seems like an outdated philosophy

How ironic that Defensive Guru Pete Carroll's offense is carrying the defense this year.
