A few things, I know he was working out with our DB's on occasion before he was drafted, hopefully they taught some technique with Kick Step which seems to be the make or break aspect for us in keeping guys. He was in the VMAC frequently so has associations with the staff another good aspect, played in the area so not a lot of orientation needed.

Now staying healthy, he has all the tools, has shown them, hope he has got the injury bug out of his system going forward.

I wanted him as a rookie, not sure off memory but wasn't King also in that draft and I liked Jones more.
Yes, I wanted them both. I’m usually not a fan of drafting from my favorite college team as they tend to be overhyped.
These 2 were the exception to the rule.

Didn’t want Seattle to draft Locker or Eason as I thought they’d struggle as a pro.

This may be a way to save 6 mil.

1. Blair to FS

2. Reed becomes slot corner

3. Jones plays RCB

4. Diggs is traded or released

Sidney Jones played great at UW was bummed about him tearing his Achilles before the draft.

He could be a great fit here.

I love this move. For a sixth? Even if Jones was going to be cut, it seems like a good shot to take. Waiver priority would have probably prevented Seattle from picking him up.

Jones is still only 25. If (huge if) he can suit up for a chunk of the season, the cornerback position will be better. :irishdrinkers:

Yet ANOTHER solid move by JS. It's too bad so many dwell on the negative when he has had some steals in Free Agency. Like any other GM, there will be some swing and misses. But, this feels like a fleecing, yet again.
From what I understand, Jags fans are pretty angry about this one.
Welcome back to Seattle Kid. Sometimes a change of scenery and better coaching is what a guy needs. And right across the freeway from UW. Yes please........
Now, time to let Flowers go.

I couldn’t find it but isn’t a conditional 6th round pick the same thing they gave Houston for John Reed?

The Seahawks traded a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2023 draft to the Houston Texans for cornerback John Reid, who’s entering his second NFL season. [urltargetblank]https://sports.mynorthwest.com/1485471/reports-seahawks-trade-cb-john-reid/[/urltargetblank]

2. We'd love to cut Flowers and save 2.1M of non guaranteed salary.

That's what I'm thinking.

I think Tre Flowers will get the chop.

Just might be enough to get Brown in camp.

Potential Tre Flowers cap savings ......... $2,183,000
Less Sidney Jones cap cost ................... $1,500,000
Potential increase in cap room ................. $ 683,000

I don't think these things are tied together. But cutting Flowers gives us more cap space to fill some other needs before the final 53 is set, specifically DT, center, etc.

I like this trade a lot. Jones has big upside, and he's finally healthy.

Probably waiting to take a physical, and the Hawks haven’t made the trade “official” yet.

I really liked him coming out of college. And blowing his Achilles at the combine really hurt his stock. I hope he comes here and plays like he did in college.

I just have a feeling about him. Coming back to Washington might just be the spark that makes him play at a high level. He wasn’t playing awful by any means I guess.
