Marshawn was so critical to this team....even in the last 2 years, we are still trying to play with the same schemes in spite of his absents.
Marshawn is the Seahawks....We have crowned Russell the King of the castle, but its still Marshawn's team.

BINGO.

Still running an offense centered on a thump 'em hard running game that we haven't had since Marshawn left. Rawls gave us some of it last season, was injured, and has never fully got it back for longer stretches since then.

Whether that's more Rawls' fault, the O-Line , or primarily Bevell/Cable, is open to debate.

RW isn't a leader. He's a great individual player, who has a lot of heart. But you never hear about the players talking about his leadership skills...probably because he just doesn't know how to connect with them.

Marshawn never talked much, but his Beastmode approach to playing the game spoke louder than words and as a result his teammates followed suit. As Heath Evans said, the team looked to ML to lead; not RW.

Although I'm on the outside looking in, it feels like since he left, the team's been in disarray.

The Beast does not win a Super Bowl without Russell. And he doesn't have the great Super Bowl stretches without Russell's comeback drives and his read option ability

Football is a team game. Saying Russell is not a leader is absurd. With Russell we are a playoff divisional round team every year. Ask Marshawn if he can take a team by himself, because last I checked he needed a poor division and a 7-9 playoff team record before "BeastQuake"

Are you really trying to downplay Marshawn Lynch?

Are you citing Heath Evans as a source of expertise on the current Seahawks?

Saying Lynch wasn't going to make those deep runs without Wilson doesn't seem like a downplay. Seems like reality.

Marshawn made the playoffs once in his career without Wilson as his qb, and that was with a 7-9 squad. Where was his leadership then? Where was his leadership when he got stuffed on third in short in the red zone in superbowl 49 and the offense had to settle for a fg?

Everyone including Baldwin has stated that Marshawn was the heartbeat of the team and the true leader. There have been countless interviews to attest to this.

Russ is like Pete's illegitimate child. Great with cheerleading.

Marshawn was the guy during the Hawks' SB-era. No doubt.

RW benefited greatly having ML in the backfield. It made RW appear a better QB than perhaps he actually was. (And I greatly admire RW's work ethic.)

That said, Lynch was already on the decline come his 2nd SB attempt, and RW was not a dominant enough QB to fully compensate for that fact IMO.

Since Lynch's departure, that lack of making this HIS team has continued for RW, and the Hawks' have struggled because of it.

What about M Rob. Lynch sure looked better with him as our fullback. The team in general just had better players to fit their scheme. Then they paid Harvin, let the OL and Tate walk, trade a Center and 1st for Graham, and Christie Michael. Oh yeah, our Left Tackle, the only thing anchoring what was left of a serviceable o line.

This team has been making the wrong personnel decisions for the style they want. They want a ball control, play it safe, offense while they acquire a pass catching tight end making more than the entire o line. At the same time the o line is given a complicated blocking scheme despite no continuity. Maybe this works if you run an up tempo, aggressive, spread offense. Pete and John need to either adapt to their own decisions, or make some changes in players and coaching

Marshawn was freakin' great. He ran great and he interviewed better.
He's a national treasure.

So much homer in this thread. Not just a little homer, but seriously ridiculous amounts of homer.

I'm confused. How is it homering when both players played on the home team?

The irony is too great in the above post given its own massive amounts of homerism.

Agreed! Couldn't have said it better!
