I want to see the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on our line for protecting Wilson after a cheap or late hit. Not every game but a message sent were not going to allow extra shots on him anymore, Lynch was one of the only guys I seen step up and protect him when he was playing last year.

I miss that big lunk that used to play RT for us a couple years ago. He had attitude.

I heard the reports about Ifedi squaring off with M Bennet after a couple of days of camp. Think about that, 22 YO 1st round draft pick got in a fight with one of the best D lineman in the league and from I heard on 950, he didn't back down. THAT is what the Hawks need on the O line as long as the guy can do his job. I never heard about the "Big Russian" doing this in preseason against own D lineman. Reminds me of Browner tossing around / abusing Terrell Owens when they brought him in for a look 4 years ago. The O line needs less intelligence and more testosterone by a couple of players, Sweazeys gone so someone needs to provide that attitude.

Pads have been on for 1 day.......Relax and let it sort out.

Relax about what? No one is crowning him a Hall of Famer. He just looks like a player that provides a healthy upgrade.

I'll let the eyeball test in a game be my meter, they said Nowack was doing well also last year, after that move and trying to force a situation I will have concerns, Britt seems like a forced move hoping to take advantage of his size and knowledge and not of his skill set at the position, Hunt is a career Center, Lewis is a proven Center, why I have reservations about him even being the starter.

With all due respect, Nowak wasn't a first round pick who had a track record in college of being a very good offensive lineman. Kind of apples and oranges, don't you think?

Relax about what?

Relax is what I said. 1 day in pads does not mean jack squat.

It's early. We're all excited. And we've been wringing our hands about the OL for months.

Even a crumb tastes like a feast when you're hungry enough.

I will say this though. We've seen guys come in as rooks these last couple years -- and many immediately wilted under the heat of a Seahawks team. Whether physically overmatched, or so raw as to really just be fumbling about or just not showing that alpha spirit. Guys that you look at in TC and just go: "Ewww".

Seeing some fresh guys come in and immediately look like they belong is an encouraging turn of the coin. Wouldn't you agree?

I was referring to Center, Britt was not a first round pick.

Also, up to the point the emphasis for the OL has been in pass protection. Not sure how much they get to utilize what should be a strength....run blocking.

Much easier for this DL to fire off and not worry about run blocking. Think Brock mentioned this in one of his shows.

I've heard from a source I trust that the pass-blocking has been even more horrible in team sessions than what they thought the worst-case scenario would be (not Ifedi in particular). I've never known him to cry wolf before, so I'm a little terrified. He is more familiar with the perimeter play than line play, so maybe he's just not as familiar with the way things should look in there, but he's been around the pro game for a long time. Let's hope they're really quick studies.

Lets also remember that Seattle's pass protection was on pace to be historically bad in the first half of last season, then Seattle schemed around the OL, and in the second half Seattle's OL posted very good numbers.

There are some pretty good offenses we've seen in the NFL the past several years that had bad OL's masked by scheme and QB play. If Seattle is having issues even after scheming around the OL in real games I'll be worried, but during the first few weeks of training camp I just expect the OL to get their asses kicked while knowing that it probably won't matter much once the teams are playing for real.

That's not meant as a defense of our OL by any means. I just trust the coaching staff to make it work out with scheme and tempo.
