As a Seahawks fan, I am indifferent to this situation; our team doesn't have a vacancy at head coach, so whether they would improve by hiring Harbaugh is a moot point.
I am curious, though, about the "He wears out his welcome within five years" take. Looking at the list of recent Super Bowl coaches, those who had been with their club for more than five seasons when they reached the championship are the exception, not the rule. So if Harbaugh is able to take a team to the next level in that time span — i.e., transform a perennial Wild Card loser into a legitimate Super Bowl contender — is that really a problem? Would you rather see our team continue to tread water, never again reaching its earlier heights, or take another step and actually be able to vie for the title for a couple of seasons?
