Report: Broncos have informed Russell Wilson of benching

The Denver Broncos are reportedly strongly considering quarterback Russell Wilson to give them financial flexibility this offseason.

According to ESPN’s lead NFL analyst Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos are indeed benching quarterback Russell Wilson for backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Schefter states that head coach Sean Payton informed the team about this move earlier this morning and that it is now official. They are doing this to preserve financial flexibility this offseason since a serious injury could automatically guarantee Wilson’s upcoming option. Wilson has an upcoming option that would keep him on the roster through 2025 but if they decline that option, he becomes a free agent and they would have to eat the dead money.

I wonder if anyone will want the guy?
