Sorry OP, but everytime I saw Manning look for a wr it was to Maxies side of the field. On the TD play to Tamme, that was KJ Wrights man. Max went with the outside man, who switched with the inside man on a cross, at that moment Tamme became KJ's man and he was 3 steps behind

KJ actually played better than in SD, but he is way off in coverage so far this year, point the finger there.

If the pick plays that spring Welker for 50 yards get called, no one is saying this.

For sure... maybe even only half of those rubs or picks get flagged its a different story. It seems like they make up 50% of their offensive game plan. Guarantee that if Seattle ran that many picks to say Harvin or Baldwin there'd be yellow laundry all over the field... but we're talkin' Peyton here.

Max played an ok game. If it weren't for Bevell's poor game management the defense could have pitched a zero TD for Peyton game. Who throws the ball on their own 1 yard line? STUPID!!!!!!!!!!

Fully expected this...

"Maxwell had a bad game... FIRE BEVELL!"

.NET is sometimes almost a parody of itself.

Horrible insult.

You are talking about Peyton Manning throwing the ball to Thomas/Thomas/Welker/Sanders. . . .all of which would be good receivers on any team. . . at a time when it's never been easier for offenses to throw the ball.

If you want to criticize any part of the defense I'd start with 0 sacks on manning (minus the one where he fell down on his own) and the play calling on the Bronco's last drive that left open spots on the field where there should be none at that time in the game. However I think some of that was dictated by questions about Manning's arm strength, and some really ugly balls he'd been throwing all game.

Also, I don't know how many throws manning made Sherman's way but he spent the majority of his time looking and moving to his left.

I think it's a stretch to say he's "lost it."

Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other QB and receiver, and I can't remember when we've played a better group of QB's and receivers for THREE weeks in a row.

IMO Maxwell's played fine considering the competition and more balls being thrown his way due to teams staying away from Sherman's side more than last year.

I Miss Brandon Browner !

Well even if he was on the Hawks you'd still be missing him. One more game out for a suspension before he can even take the field this year. Then we'll see how much left he has in the tank. Brandon was great for us but he had definitely lost a step. I wish him all the best, but we're better off in the long run with Maxwell, et.al.

At the game I was frustrated with Maxwell, but its not quite fair. People are simply not going to throw at Sherman much. Less than 8 targets in 3 games. Maxwell is going to get worked. And he allowed a lot of catches yesterday, but it was all the underneath stuff except on the 2 catches where clearly there was miscommunication.

When the communication was on, Maxwell allowed only short completions and was always there on the tackles. I will take that because eventually he is going to get one. He didnt allow anything over the top, and QBs dont even want to throw at him over the top. If it were Jennings out there some of the 9 yard dig patterns would have been posts or fly patterns , giving up 25 yards a catch.

Its frustrating to see Maxwell get worked, but within the rules of the NFL, thats just going to happen especially because every game we all know he is the one with the crosshairs on his chest.

Well said. One might remember that if the game plan was the same as in the SB, Denver would get a lot of catches and no yards after the catch. Maxwell is out there alone a lot and it just when he doesn't break up a pass on third down the replays make him look a day late and a dollar short, but he's covering all-pro receivers and they ARE getting their catches, but they aren't getting behind him. His tackles were solid, not something we could say of most of the defense in last week's 117 degree heat.
By the time they did get behind him in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks should have had the game out of reach, but some strange mistakes let Denver think they could play with Seattle. It was a tough job getting the momentum back, or at least evening it out. The defense was put into a tougher spot than necessary and Maxwell and co. rose again to the task.

Let's face it, part of the issue hurting Maxwell is also that Jeremy Lane is out, as is Therald Simon. Both of those guys are good, tough players that know the defense.

Good God, a lot of people get butt hurt on this site. Maxwell played like crap, it looks like he is running in quicksand right now. He has many opportunities to make a play on the ball but he has been content giving up the catch instead of breaking the pass up when he is in position. I don't consider it an insult to compare him to a player that was always in position but never would break up a pass play. If you are content with one of our db's giving up 4 or 5 first downs on 3rd and long each game then so far this year Maxwell has been your guy.

Manning and Sanders are chopped liver I suppose.

Teams are avoiding Richard, so Maxwell gets worked.....and so would any imaginary cb that might replace him.

Anyone watch Joe Haden lately?

You would appreciate Maxwell very much if you did.

On this board, there are very few things that truly piss me off. The Maxwell bashing is one of them. He is holding up well considering all the work to his side.

He has knocked down as many passes in the end zone as he has allowed and that is if you consider the pass to Jacob Tamme as one he allowed (which I don't....scheme problem more than Maxwell getting beat).

If there is anyone that needs to be picked on, it is Avril, Bennett, Hill, and Schofield.
It wasn't a scheme thing maxwell was supposed to hand off the seam /post route. Instead he stayed with that player in a sense double covering that guy and hanging kj wright out to dry on tamme. Overall he wasn't bad. He's been doing fine Imo

Maxwell didn't look like Kelly Jennings, but to me, his level dropped from last year. I don't know why. Maybe the new rules?

I really hope he steps up, because there's going to be a lot of targets his way this year.

Go watch the Indi game from last year again - Browner vs. Hilton.
Then go re-watch the SB Maxwell versus Thomas/Welker...

What Maxwell did on the last drive of regulation was absolutely inexcusable. I'm sorry, but at least Kelly Jennings didn't completely blow a coverage, and then blow the same coverage again on the very next play. I am not going to get on Maxwell for giving up underneath passes because in our cover-3 defense, his assignment is the deep third, but I don't know how he isn't getting killed for what happened at the end. Those were absolute blown coverages. Maxwell basically escorted the Broncos into the end zone. Maxwell has to pass the outside receiver off, rather than getting sucked in. Once is okay, it is going to happen every once in a while. But to run the same route combination again for a touchdown the next play is pretty bad. You would have liked to have seen KJ Wright carry the wheel route a little bit more thoroughly, but that deep third is where Maxwell is supposed to be. The fact that he didn't learn from the mistake is pretty alarming. I think this was almost more Kelly Herndon than Jennings. And dammit, fire Bevell!!
