Trade Russ
Load up on 3, read option QBs with great arms. (so you can consistently run read option and throw deep)

With the money saved from trading Russ, really improve the running game, and the defense.

Go back to the style of the 2012-2014 teams which were great D, running with read option, and deep ball.

If Russ could get to a better environment, and the Seahawks could improve their team, it could be a win/win.

Uhhh 2012-2014 - We still had Russ on the team...Also one of the best RB during this decade. Also one of the best defense in NFL history.

Getting rid of your best player is foolish, not to mention our current defense isn't quite there to help out whoever is going to replace Russ.

Why dont you guys just enjoy having one of the best players to play for our state. Kind of like Ichiro & Payton.

MrBlitz is right in a sense that several recent SB winning teams have had great QBs on their rookie contract. Obviously us in 2013, KC in 2020 with Mahomes on his rookie contract. Nick Foles on backup contract + Carson Wentz on rookie contract. Tom Brady took pay cuts to allow his team to be more competitive. https://www.businessinsider.com/tom-bra ... ain-2018-7

So the last two teams that won SBs with "well paid" QBs would be the 2011-12 NY Giants with Eli Manning, and the 2015-16 Denver Broncos with Peyton Manning. Peyton wasn't even that big a factor, Brock Osweiler won key games that season at QB for Denver; it was the elite Denver D that got them over the top.

Not that I'm advocating for trading Russell, but I do think it's possible to have a discussion on how much talent could we get in trading Russell vs what are the odds of getting a passable replacement QB who, on a rookie contract, could lead a team with an elite defense and strong running game. Of course, we'd need a Marshawn Lynch replacement too to replicate the 2013 model. And we'd need some a few more elite defensive players.

Simply typing it out, the odds of finding a low-cost game manager QB AND a Marshawn-level RB makes me not like the odds for trading Russell. The Brady voluntary pay cut model seems like a more viable model to pursue first.

For a Marshawn replacement, guys I can think of right now would include Derrick Henry, Nick Chubb, Alvin Kamara, and there aren't many others. I'd also say Dalvin Cook but he seems to be injured a lot. Good luck getting any of those guys in an affordable package.

That would mean Carroll's job would be lost. I don't think he's capable of building a team like the 2013-2014 Seahawks again, even with high picks. That was what many consider to be the best team of the decade, and that game due to his collegiate experience. Many of the players he brought in were guys that he had experience with in college. Carroll, especially has struggled to draft defensive lineman outside of Frank Clark.

Sweet, and while you are down at the dollar store buying up all those mobile read option QB's with great arms could you pick us up a couple all pro O lineman and a couple all pro D lineman too. Maybe even get them to sweeten the deal with a couple sets of "Legion of Boom" secondaries (ya know, in case of injuries). :irishdrinkers:

And where would that be? The Seattle "environment" is a highly sought after destination target for a whole lot of players around the league. We just don't have the available cap to take advantage of that as much as we would like.

Not all that sure Wilson has been our best player as of late. Last week his game was horrible.

Many other places. As a QB, the Seahawks are not the place you want to be. The offense is antiquated and the coaches don't play very good situational ball on offense.
