I've seen Diggs listed as S, CB, and just plain DB. Do we know for sure that he will play safety? Or is he the nickel back we have been missing?

Pete's said for three weeks when asked about safety help, that "we're working on it."

So I can't imagine Diggs was signed for any other reason than to make sure Hill and Thompson never seen the field again.

More FS than SS. Kind of the exact opposite of McDougald (both can play either)

Has played slot corner, but not super adept at it.

See this move as maybe improving our nickel look as an alternative to running our base 4-3 in passing situations. Diggs/McDougald/Blair affords a pretty decent 3 safety alternate.

Pete hasn't sounded optimistic on Dickson, so I wouldn't be shocked if we traded for a TE as well before the deadline.

Not a front line starter, but a good depth blocking type TE.

I doubt it. Maybe one more move -- not a lot of trades are made in the NFL are a reason. Most teams are still contention.

Those were my exact thoughts too as soon as I saw it was Thompson, his INTs just didn't matter at that point-you keep getting beat deep an you're done on this team.
