I don't know, man....from his college tapes alone I think you can plug him in at 1 tech and he'd do better than the terrible display that Williams put up at that position, which admittedly is absolutely not what Williams is constructed for. Williams plays far too high to play in there. Not unlike Red except that Williams spends a lot of time on the ground where as Red didn't.

Not a lot of athletic ability there, but strong as an ox at the POA. You see him take on double teams and make the tackle to boot. Call me crazy, but I like this one to start playing within a couple weeks if possible in a rotation with Hill.

I suspect Robertson is in shape, has a little seasoning and is probably much farther along than Jimmy Staten.
Staten, to my eye, needs an enormous amount of work. Like the size of Mt. St. Helens amount of work. He has some ability there, but has absolutely no idea how to use his hands and can't keep his butt down to use any measure of leg drive. Pretty decent measurables combine wise, but a train wreck of an actual football player. He represented what I thought was the worst pick since Carroll and Schneider got here. Especially when I knew that Jesse Williams tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny legs wouldn't hold up and despite his benching 700 pounds Jesse can't hold the POA playing down low. 3 tech and 5 tech, sure maybe he can play that. Then there was Hill who I didn't know what to think of given his little playing time. Scruggs I like a lot and plays well when actually on the field, but he can't stay there. We had questions at DT going into this season outside of our starters, 34 year old Williams being one of them, and we get Staten as a draft pick? Staten? Really? Watching his college tapes I have no idea what they saw even now. Even with the blue and green glasses. I just don't know wth they were doing there.

I like this pickup though. Going into this season, losing Bane was one of my biggest fears because we have no one who can sufficiently play that position taking on constant double teams. Sure enough it came true, damnit. Now this is what it looks like without him. This new kid isn't an accelerator by any means in terms of getting into the backfield, but he's violent in holding his ground. The Falcons considered him to be the strongest on the team. We need some of that right about now.
Totally agree, I just don't get some of their reaches on guys sometimes. Staten could have been had as a free agent and we pick him in the sixth round?

So who gets the boot? Dobbs or ??? And if they have to sign a Center to replace Unger but not put him on the IR, does Walters get the heave-ho or do they cut Bradford? Something tells me Bradford and Dobbs are out, if Wagner can make it back this week.

Bryan Walters is dead weight, all 190 lbs of him. I'd rather just have Baldwin or PRich fair catch every punt than to waste a roster spot on Walters.

We have RaShaun Allen on the roster as a fourth TE and Steven Terrell as a depth DB. Both were healthy scratches on Sunday. Could feasibly move them off to bring on Robertson and an extra C.

Well we have had lots of success with linemen that other teams drafted, so I guess I am optimistic. Robertson had a fair amount of screen time on Hard Knocks this season and seems like a passionate guy.

Holy crap HN, has it occurred to you that the Falcons D-Coach may not have the moxie that Quinn does?.
Robertson maybe isn't a B. Mebane, but we need something better than what we fielded for that Chiefs game, because we couldn't even stop a runny nose in that game.
Mebane was usually good for taking on double teams, and freeing up someone else to get pressure on the QB's and plug up some holes in the running lanes.
Hopefully Quinn can sprinkle a little magic dust on TR and help stop some of the bleeding.
I'm not going to assume anything one way or the other, until I see how he fit's, we owe the Coaches a little slack, what with all the injuries eh?

I think this could be a good find by the FO, Robertson is very hard to move at the POA.

Any clues as to who the corresponding player move will be?

Both myself and Peaches' scarf like this signing.

Watching those highlights, it appears he has a penchant for being a "ball and chain" for a running back. He locks on and makes the tackle by making the back drag him.

Strong dude.

The Falcons fan base seems to genuinely think this guy could be a solid player. Doesn't mean a ton a whole lot but you never know. If he can just hold the point of attack and allow the other guys do to their thing he might actually carve out a role. Worth a dart throw at least...

I'm sure the Bucs fans said the same thing when we released Michael Bennett and they scooped him up. Just because the Defense is bad does not mean the individual player is bad.

After Sunday's game this guy is a welcomed addition! Plug him in the middle and let him play with that chip on his shoulder...go to work young man! Hopefully Bobby is back to line up right behind him to keep him "schematically correct" and together help put a stop to the run game.

Kind of flawed logic.

Marshawn Lynch was a bust in Buffalo once upon a time.

Brandon Browner wasn't even in the league

And on. And on. Just because a player doesn't pan out somewhere, doesn't mean they can't bring something to the table.

Add James Harrison to that list. UDFA that was cut several times, even by the stealers. He worked out okay.

Love his tweet about coming to Seattle with a chip on his shoulder. A P/JS type of player. Let's see what Quinn can turn him into, and soon!
So our 1-tech DT is to this team what SS Ken Hamlin and Marquand Manuel were to the 2005 Seahawks. 'Bane goes down, and it's man-off-the-street time.

From Pete Carroll's 11/19 press conference.

Carroll said defensive tackle Travian Robertson, who was signed yesterday from the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad, weighs 324 pounds - 20 more than his listed weight of 304 - and will work in at the nose tackle spot where the club lost Brandon Mebane to injured reserve last week. Carroll complimented Robertson's tough play and work ethic in preseason and said the third-year pro out of South Carolina came with plenty of good recommendations.
