Should have happened last year. Never got all the love for McEvoy. He was miscast as a WR. Should have been on defense.

I really do not understand what everyone saw in McEvoy beyond two nice trick plays in 2016. He's an unathletic white guy with unreliable hands and not enough speed to play DB. That pick against the Vikings was his drop.

What does "white guy" have to do with it? :D

I knew even as I typed it that someone was giving me crap for that. :p

I have to wonder if this was a Bevell idea to try him at WR, he seemed much more adept when playing Safety, sure he had a few moments but never looked fluid, Pete Likes Big receivers and we have been trying to fond one since Mike Williams, maybe this was a reach.

Well, I don't think anyone's surprised by this move.

IMO, I didn't expect a whole lot from McEvoy in his first year. He's a developmental guy who can at least contribute on Special Teams. If you're an UFA, you're expected to play ST and do it well. Jermaine Kearse made the team as an UFA primarily as a ST guy because he only caught 3 passes in his rookie year.

Ricardo Lockette was a ST contributor too. He caught 11 passes in a season, his career high. Thorpe and Alexander are paid well as ST specialists.

Perhaps we expected more and honestly, that's on us. That said, this is a very good, highly competitive WR group. Several have demonstrated a greater potential as a WR and contributor on ST.

As much as I like would like to see Moore, Johnson, Reynolds and Springfellow play offense...they are developmental types with upside. We're in trouble if they play a lot of offense because the team is 4 deep -Baldwin, Lockett, Marshall and Brown. These are the guys who should see a lot of PT.

I never thought Tanner was anything but a below average WR taking up a roster spot . I've been fairly vocal about that.

So that's nice. Hope he gets a spot.
