They need to get deeper by drafting cheap young talent. After that, THEN go out and sign a big free agent that can put you over the top.

Well, as John Schneider always says: we’re not doing our job if we don’t explore all options. They could just be kicking the tires to see if they can pull off a lowball trade.

Inquiring and dealing are separate things, first thing after getting burned is going to be long term look with Clowney and what he may take going forward.

That alone could close the door.

The problem is that cheap doesn't always make you deep.

Nor does spending money on guys to just get them, ask the Redskins about it or the Raiders for that matter.

I would not be surprised if Clowney ends up here. This guy would probably thrive here. I would give Houston a 2nd rounder with a receiver or running back (not the main guys) like a brown or a mckissic hell give them both.

I'm well aware of that. Except when the player is a top-of-the-league talent, fills a position of severe need, and plays at one of the most influential positions in football, then you consider it. We're not talking about Jimmy Graham and Paul Richardson here.

That's right. We are talking about Frank Clark, a better player that came through our system, and now we have sellers remorse.

Clark was traded before the draft, and it was a more understandable move at the time. Pete and John probably weren't expecting to settle for Collier in the draft and then lose him to injury. (Reed's suspension doesn't help either, but I suspect Pete and John knew that was coming.)

I don't think we have sellers remorse, we have CAP space, we got a bundle for Clark and we might get a equal replacement for the fraction we got for Clark.. sounds like it might be a win win situation.
