This guy is not Lynch at all. He runs nothing like Lynch. He doesn't have the lateral agility or short area explosion that Lynch has. Gurley is a faster, much more strait lined athlete. Who he does run like is another UGA great, Herschel Walker.

I wish we had the opportunity but I think Gurley will be gone at 29 by the Colts

Well most guys who show up to the combine do so with the intention of working out. Not sure I'd be thrilled to have an invasive medical check if I was only there to answer questions.

It's not a big deal right now, as he probably wants to wait until closer to the draft so he's showing more signs of progress. Some teams may see him now and not look later and get a more negative impression. If he doesn't let any doctors look at it before the draft though, his stock could drop dramatically.

I put this in a thread on the main forum, but I figured I'd put it here as well . . .

I'm not sure on Gurley being a "transcendent talent." I see a guy with significant weaknesses at the next level.

He's big, but runs upright, doesn't have a lot of balance in his base, and leaves his feet way too way.

He's a long strider with build up speed, but I don't see quick feet, great cutback ability, or a second gear.

Most of his highlights come off sweeps and swing passes. I don't see a lot of power up the middle, and I see a lot of ankle tackles.

I think Gurley is a lot like Robert Turbin. He has a body that makes you think POWER, but a style that is built more on speed.

I'm still working on some of the backs, but I'd currently put Gurley 3rd on my list, and that is without consideration for the ACL.

I can see some resemblance to Turbin but imho, Gurley is a much better back. He breaks a lot of tackles, and against good teams. He's fast like Turbin, but has much better balance and not as top heavy.

I don't see him as a transcendent back either, but he's a lot better than most of the other backs I've looked at. And when he breaks through tackles for a TD, his offensive line gets pumped up much like ours when Lynch pulls a Houdini.

And he can return kick offs. :D

After watching his highlight tapes it's pretty impressive to see him bounce off of, and break tackles against teams like South Carolina, Alabama (for a TD), Clemson, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Buffalo, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Missouri, and Florida. So he's played against very good competition.

Somebody mentioned Jay Ajai, but I don't see him breaking any tackles, nor do I see the speed. He looks like a 3rd or 4th round back to me.
