This is a pure time waster for offseason, let's talk about our draftees from 2021-2023

2021:
No chance of all-pro, Tre Brown might have a chance for probowl if he keeps improving.

2022:
All-pro? Probowl, maybe Mafe, Cross, K9 and Woolen if they keep improving?

2023:
All-pro, maybe Witherspon? Not sure about JSN
Our 2nd round has been a complete waste at this point.

While I agree there was no need to take another 2nd rd RB, Charbs isn't a waste he is a above average RB with some pop, but we could have found similar production with a later rd pick. Don't even get me started on the hall pick! Imo that's where we should have started fixing the IOL.

Charbonnet notched almost 500 yards last year and has bell-cow potential. Has a spark. I wouldn't call it a COMPLETE waste.

JSN also had a very nice rookie year. Doesn't feel like it, but he got to over 600 yards by end of year. That's a real nice year for a rookie wideout behind Lockett and Metcalf. Probably outperforms Zay Flowers if he goes to Baltimore instead as he'd have a higher market share in that offense, for instance.

Most of the 2nd round picks look on point. To me a 2nd round pick should be a player that develops into a solid starter sooner or later.

Mafe, Walker, Hall and Charbonnet are on the right track. Eskridge was a reach and he can not even carve out a role as a situational gadget player.

The 4th/5th round have been money and great value rounds. This draft is deep so picking up more picks in rounds 4 and 5 would be great for JS because he likes to go for athletic specimens or trenches.

Later rounds is typical developmental/ST type of picks.

Every player drafted in 2023 is still on the current roster. Many of them made significant contributions in their rookie seasons.
We will see if they survive the new coaching staff and with a new set of eyes. If that draft class is part of the opening day roster again that is a good sign.

2023 might end up looking like our 2014-2015 drafts, first picks are great and then a whole lot of nothing.

2022 is decidedly better than average. John's best draft in a decade.

You can just about say the same thing about the 2022 class too. Outside of Bo Melton.
Melton was snatched up by another team and got lots of reps in real games. IIRC Hawks tried to stash him on practice squad and Packers snatched him. Packers sent him back to PS the next season and then elevated him to regular roster at end of season. Melton then lit it up last couple weeks of 2023 and caught a TD pass vs 49ers in Divisional Playoff game.

Point is that even the one player that could be called a "Miss" from the Hawks 2022 draft was actually a "Hit" in terms of NFL-level talent and work habits.

If the bar is all-pro or pro bowler, then yes, this and every draft from every year from every team is a bust.

From the 2023 draft there are 7 pro bowlers (Witherspoon), 2022 there are 12 (Woolen), and 2021 there are 14. Eventually there will be about 25 like most years, but -- as we've all seen -- it takes time for young players to adjust to the speed of the pro game. And we've all seen young players get benched or cut, like Marshawn Lynch and Michael Bennett, before coming into their own.

Go back 5 years or so before you judge. And make sure you include Jake Bobo and Jake Curran when you do...
