Why was catch interference not called here?

And Dallas gets called and no contact was made by him? WTF?? I do not get this. Sorry. The TN player made contact with him.

He was called for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, not Unnecessary Roughness.

It was the proper call. But Interference should have been flagged, and wasn't.

The ball was already caught and secured, so there was no longer a catch to interfere with. The Tennessee guy needlessly got close to Dallas, and then looked like he tripped which made Dallas think he was crossing the line by continuing to get even more up in his shit. As he tripped, Dallas reacted by throwing his arm as if it say "GTFO of here", but didn't even touch him. The refs probably thought Dallas's reaction is what sent the Tennessee player to the ground.

Should not have been any penalties.

If he had made contact, sure. He never even touched the guy 🤷‍♂️

It was one of those weird situations with lots of little things going on, and the refs should have just said "hey, let's not get crazy here fellas" and kept the flags in their pocket.

You have to give the player catching the ball room to make the catch (interpreted as a 1 yard front cushion in the Notes to the Rules). You cannot touch the player. The cover man violated both.

If someone tries to punch someone and not land.

They will get flagged.

Was it a punch, though? I only saw one replay. Id have to look again. It looked like he was possibly just trying to give him a little shove since he was practically falling on him. I dunno, though.
