  • Porter Gustin didn't make the list, he's an athletic freak that has been hit with injuries, so is somewhat under the radar. His injuries have been significant (no sitting out for an "owie") If he can recover, he'd absolutely be worth a flyer.

Yeah, the injuries are going to drop him a lot. Styles his game after Clay Matthews, but I don’t think he is as good of an athlete as Clay was. Probably better suited for a true 3-4 defense. If he fell to the 4th round, I might want them to take a gamble on his medicals. I do think he could be a good LB if he stays healthy.

  • After the first five or so DEs, there seems to be a steep drop off in talent at that position.

  • The 4 pick Seahawks will most likely fill their primary needs at DL & DE/Edge with their first two picks, so they likely may have to wait until the middle rounds (4/5) to fill their LB needs. With slim pickings, how about an undersized but VERY productive guy as a developmental LB? His kind of numbers, even from a smaller school are very impressive.

    --OLB/DE-Sutton Smith (a junior), Northern Illinois, 6-1/237; #207-overall currently at drafttek.com

Too small for DE/edge, but as a linebacker, there may be some upside as a round 4/5 pick? I'm not sure on his length or long speed but he does appear to have some serious get-off burst & ++++ production. Check him out at the combine.

IMO-Smith would be no worse than a 2-nd rounder if he were bigger and could play edge in the NFL, but as a LB, he could be a value pick if he can be had in round 4. If nothing else, this guy makes a lot of stuff happen when he plays.

    2018: 13-games: 56-tkls, 41-solo, 24.5-TFL, 15.0-sacks, 1-PBU, 9-QBH, 4-FF, 1-FR (for TD), 2-BK's
    -------> (+ 2 punt returns for 51-yds, a 25.5-yd average & 1-TD (a VERY unusual stat for a DE/edge guy.)
    2017: 13-games: 63-tkls, 43-solo, 29.5-TFL, 14.0-sacks, 3-PBU, 8-QBH, 3-FF & 2-FR (for 2-TD's)
    2016: 12-games: (as a freshman backup) 15-tkls, 6-solo, 2.0-TFL, 1-sack, 3-QBH
    Career: 38-games, 134-tkls, 90-solo, 56-TFL, 30-sacks, 4-PBU, 20-QBH, 7-FF, 3-FR (for 3-TD's), 2-BK's

Smith had a pretty impactful game with 8-tkls, 6-solo, 4.5-TFL, and 2-sacks against a not too bad Utah team.

A late round LB option (Rd-6/7/UDFA) could potentially be a smaller school guy with + stats that are overlooked.
    OLB-E. J. Ejiya, No. Texas, 6-3/231, Smaller school LB with + stats, HOWEVER combine #'s = ?????
    2018: 12-games, 113-tkls. 55-solo, 23-TFL, 8.0-sacks, 11-QBH, 1-FF, 1-BK
    2017: 14-games, 108-tkls, 51-solo, 12-TFL, 7.0-sacks, 4-QBH, 1-FF
    2016, 13 games as B/U, 43-tkls, 26-solo. 3.5-TFL, 2-QBH
    CAREER: 39-games, 264-tkls, 132-solo, 38.5-TFL, 15.0-sacks, 17-QBH, 2-FF, 1-BK

    Doesn’t Buggs have TRex arms?

P n’ J like their DLinemen to have long arms.

  • I’m all in on Carl Granderson, Edge, Wyoming. He has 35” arms and room to add a lot of muscle. He can be had in the 4-5 round area.

  • I sure am not eager to trade down and settle at DE this year.

  • I’m liking Charles Omenihu, Texas. He’s 6’6” and 275 so he can play big DE and collapse inside for passing downs and leave Frank where he is, right?

  • Montez Sweat was my hope but after today he'll be long gone. At this point i hope we trade back and grab the best DT a available.

I approve this message! solid DE that has weight to also anchor down the edge. Too many undersized DE's this year apart from the top prospects.
