Most attempts of this by any team so far this season. Whoever drew up today's gameplan (and didn't adapt until once again the fourth quarter) against a defense asking to be burned over the middle all day has some explaining to do.

A lot of that was on Wilson as well. He tried too hard to play as one poster labeled it “hero ball”.

It's like the coaches and Russ watched last week's film and were like "Hey! We can do that again!" and the Skins were 100% ready for it.

The game plan had ineffective runs and deep throws. Nothing else. No medium routes at all, until it was WAY to late. Thanks bevel! Run, run, deep pass, punt, rinse, repeat.

Maybe all the deep shots had something to do with 11 offensive penalties we had.

No point playing short passes when you're regularly in 2-25, 3-15 situations

There were plenty of short and medium routes offered, just like there is plenty of rampant scapegoating around here after a loss. We just didn't get the ball to them.

The weather wasn't made for it, the D wasn't made for it, our oline wasn't made for it, we killed drive after drive attempting it, and that still wasn't enough to deter Pete, Bevell, and Wilson from the stubborn arrogance to keep throwing it up. Insanity is more like it.

so I agree with some of what you say but there was not plenty of short or medium routes ran or open until the 4th qrt when they changed the offense. The announcers said it, as did Clayton. At one point the announcers said 3 straight times no one is open and every one is deep.

I agree but it changed in the 4th qtr, which makes me believe base don that and what the announcers kept saying and what Clayton said today, in the first 3 qtrs there were not a lot of short or medium routes ran or open. Again not sure why were are waiting till the 4th qtr or when we have no choice to go to what works.

We fans need to fire Bevell as Pete is never going to fire him. Folks are going to have to carry signs in order to get the point a crossed. If TV sees enough of those signs, then something might happen.

Maybe he's been getting too much MVP praise. Perhaps his receivers deserve more of the credit for the miracle lobs they caught last week against the Texans.

I was listening to Kurt Warner's QB podcast last week and he believes that Russ has the best deep ball in the league. The arc of the ball gives his receivers the best chance to go up and compete with the DB for the ball. He noted that receivers are naturally more athletic and better catchers of the football than DBs so these throws aren't prayers, the QB should make them if they are there.

Thus, I don't agree with your assessment that last week was Russ throwing it up and the receivers making the play with no credit for him. He threw those balls accurately. The one to McEvoy was absolutely perfect. Right in the bread basket.

WR on a shallow cross with a step on the CB for an easy 4 yds? Nope
WR running a hitch with no one around him for an easy 7 yds? Nope
WR running a go route against a top 5 CB with safety help over the top when you only need 2 yds for a 1st down? B-I-N-G-O

HeroBall too much this past game. Elite QBs take the yds which the defenses give them and then exploit on the miscues. You don't keep forcing throws that don't exist.

That, and they had a secondary.
