From the thread title, I thought we signed a whole new O-line. Just one guy?

;)

I love how we're loading up at RG! But really, this signing is nice, but the dude is likely camp fodder or a depth signing...maybe will compete at RT.

Played RT and LG in college. Wonder if he can still provide depth at RT or if he is strictly a Guard now.

A local guy...nice. Never paid too much attention to him in college other than when he committed to Michigan over UW which made me a bit salty....

Schilling was a favorite of Tom Cable on draft weekend in 2011. In fact, Cable even admitted in a post-draft interview that the Hawks were prepared to select Schilling with their next pick before the Chargers nabbed him with a compensatory pick at the end of the 6th round. The Hawks used their next pick, early in the 7th round, on DL Pep Levingston.

Crazy how many "Camp Fodder" guys have made it around here.

Ain't that the truth. We shrug these guys off and then they turn into starters.

Even the Tony McDaniel signing was met with yawns last year.

We don't know anything.

Hey, if Schilling turns out to be a diamond in the rough, nobody will complain around here...hard as that is to imagine. In the meantime, however, his resume shows he's not been able to crack a starting lineup...or even claim a full-time roster spot as depth. For the moment, he's camp fodder.

This. ^^ And if the quotes from Cable are true, I think I already like the guy.

Typical fans, though. They complain that nothing has happened, and when something does happen, it's not enough.

I imagine Greg Van Roten will figure more in a fight for a starting spot than he will but who knows.

True, but Breno was a practice Squad player who couldn't crack Green Bay's lineup even though their O-line was terrible. Sometimes different coaches and a different system can work wonders.

Not to say he'll automatically be good here, but if Cable previously identified him as a guy he wanted, maybe he's got a better shot in Seattle.

Strictly a swing OG and ST's player. Among other things, his short arms (32 3/4) limit his ability to play RT, and he's been playing on the interior since after his sophomore year at Michigan.

Breno didn't have long arms and he played passably at RT when he wasn't false starting or holding. He is regarded as a tweener type G/T. I think he looks more like a G.
