    Official "Thank You Pete" Thread

The press conference was emotional. Honesty, positivity in difficult circumstances, grace and graciousness - quintessential Pete Carroll. Next man up has some big shoes to fill.

    Zen? Sort Of.

That sounds like a great way to spend a day. What restaurant?

    Old fans like me

I'm just gonna hang out over here in my rumpled Zorn jersey with the survivors of the '92 season when the big 'Hawks board was on prosportstalk.com or some BBS site that I was cruising with my state-of-art 28.8 modem and CompuServe account or whatever the hell it was and clutching collective...

    Wheres all the buzz today?

Probably gonna be the last 'Hawks game for 8 months, and needing help does take some of the excitement out of it. But I'll enjoy it (for certain values of 'enjoy') for what it is and while I can. I can't be more disappointed than I was last week, so not much chance of a letdown.

    Underrated play by Geno

I don't dislike Geno - I want him to succeed. I think he's a step above a game-manager, but hardly elite. Flashes of brilliance, but some head-shaking decisions as well. Average deep ball touch. Better legs than most. Dunno what goes on in the locker room, but I feel like he has leadership...

Pete Carroll’s time management and late game decisions

Kick it away, maybe not even through the end zone if that was a concern, and hope your ST get a decent stop. Steelers aren't playing with the full toolbox: they're not gonna put it in the air and risk an incomplete, tip, pick. So you stack the box and play the run which *should* get you a...

Are you excited for another season of Pete?

At the end of the day, sports is entertainment. Yeah, he drives me to distraction sometimes - notably this most recent 4th Q. And yeah, winning beats the alternative. But damn if I don't admire and enjoy the passion and enthusiasm he brings into my living room each week. At 72! Sure, Belichick...

Pete Carroll’s time management and late game decisions

As someone who thinks Pete can coach until he decides to hang it up, the last half of the 4th was some of the worst coaching decisions I've ever seen. It'd be comical if the consequences weren't so severe. Aside from what was stated above, I might argue that the right call would've been to just...

Russell Wilson at his minimum salary of $1.21M?

His legs aren't what they were, but I'd argue he's a better passer, decision-maker (on the field), and defense-reader than what we've got now. He's used to scrambling behind a mediocre O-Line and is fairly durable. My guess, which is worth what you paid for it, is he's humbled, so maybe there's...

Please, help me determine the winner. See the last post.

'Hawks over Pats 30-17, 47 total. #24 gets 134 yards total.

The Good, Bad, and the Ugly from win over Niners

De-lurking. Bobby being back is huge. But I think a healthy BamBam makes this D. It's just a different feel when he's out there and 100%. Just having him out there makes ETIII better, if that's possible. To be balanced, dat Red Zone doe. I wanna see Hausch-Money for EP only. Go 'Hawks!

Two things that shouldn't be overlooked

They didn't score on the drive, but I thought that phantom hold on Smith at the start of the 3rd was a game changer. Negated a sack on 3rd down. No flag there and SD is kicking from their own 14, 'Hawks probably get decent field position and the D gets an early breather. Those penalties SD kept...

    ET the Punt Returner

ET is arguably the fulcrum of the D. He’s the consensus #1 FS in the league. It’s one thing to close on the ball and make tackles. It’s quite another to make the split-second decision to fair catch or play it. You want a guy like Lockette closing on ET? As others have said: Risk/Reward. Jason...

Let's be real. 12 things both fanbases are overlooking

Shout out from Brooklyn. My initial thoughts: (R) Britt vs some serious veterans. Russell's naturally looking that way, so even if he gets beat, hopefully we don't give up the sack. Unless there's equal pressure from the blind side. On the other hand. Rookie Center for GB. That could be a...

    Tech geeks

Just out of curiosity, why not? I've done it a few times without incident. Didn't need LOS as long as signal strength was fairly robust. Granted, no idea of the topology, but for a one-off it's simple and non-invasive to test.

Is WiFi available where you're holding the event? Most cable systems support online viewing. Just set up a laptop & use your projector/tv as video output. Cheaper & easier than snaking cable.

Russell may not show the numbers

A couple of grounding calls, 3 false starts (tho not necessarily his fault), some miscues on handoffs, and a fumble. These are the things you usually see from visiting QBs. I still think he needs to commit a half second sooner - if nothing develops downfield, take what's there & slide. I realize...
