Compensation is the key. Could be a one year rental

Brown is under contract through next season 2018.

The contract he had with the Texans has him through 2018, but he very well could have renegotiated with us and either extended, or took a pay cut to be a free agent after the season. I don't see Schneider giving up 2 draft picks for a rental though, so I'd think we worked out an extension. The other reason that leans me towards this, is that he was unhappy enough with his contract to hold out deep into the season already, and we don't want to see that next year.

No thanks. He's been terrible since leaving Seattle. We have Coleman that has taken over the slot position wonderfully and that along with Griffen playing the way he has made Lane expendable. McDougald has played great in coverage when asked to as well. Hard pass on Maxwell.

If he performs at the level he is capable of, and we get a decent new contract, this trade is a steal.

Even if he slightly underperforms, it's not that bad of a gamble.

That seems like what the Texans wanted. I know they were looking for a 2nd rounder in 2018 but we didn't have one, and I doubt we'd have given a 1st, so give them the 2nd in 2019 and the 5th next year to make up for the extra year wait.

I'm just curious how they make it fit under the cap. I really hope they worked out an extension for him
