"Albert Breer of SI.com noted that the Hawks could be interested in Hank Fraley as part of an offensive coordinator duo of Fraley and Scott Turner, who was most recently the passing game coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders."

"This would certainly not be the first time the Seahawks split coordinator duties on the offensive side of the ball, as Darrell Bevell and Tom Cable famously split duties from 2011 through 2017. More recently, Andy Dickerson served as the run game coordinator in 2021 while Shane Waldron was the offensive coordinator, with Chad Morton taking over the title of run game coordinator for 2022 and 2023 when Dickerson was promoted to offensive line coach."

I'm not sure why Fraley would agree to that unless we throw a ridiculous amount of money at him. I don't know if he's the best guy for the OC job, but I think he has a resume where he shouldn't settle for less control than I'm sure he believes he's capable of.

Oh, FFS.

Let's just make it weird. Of Course.

Just pick the right person for the job and pull the trigger.

Yea, this is JUST what we needed after the parade of failures at the position - a year of experimentation!

Okay. For sure. 2026 is gonna be the year we figure this out.

SMH.

Not sure why people think this is strange. Plenty of teams have run game experts and passing game experts. Personally think there should be a coordinator for each aspect of the offense. Obviously one has to be the overall coordinator but hiring specialists makes the squads better.

I thought Bevell still called the plays during those years, same with Waldron? This doesn't seem that crazy to me. How different is it from having a coach for each offensive and defensive group?

Just find a guy that can do the damn job. Assistants are fine, but I need ONE guy to execute a singular game plan. I hate the too many cooks, bs. Who do you look at when things aren't working? People start pointing fingers. Well if the OL, well OL could if WRs, WR can do it if the run game, and on and on. Kill me now.

One guy calls the plays that MM sees as a fit for his vision. Simple.

What makes you think there’d be two play callers? That’s not how it works. When you have a passing game coordinator and running game coordinator they work together to create a game plan that the OC puts into play on gameday.

Corbin Smith offered one possible explanation for the delay (says he has no confirmation of this, it's just a theory): Fraley wants to bring Antwaan Randle El along with him as the passing game coordinator. But MM and John want to pair Fraley with a more seasoned coach to help with the offense.

This is very common across the league and specifically with the Seahawks.

Didn't Cable also have an associate head coach title?

Wouldn't be odd at all to have someone be an offensive coordinator and then bring in a specialist to work with them - if you have the young passing game wizard you pair with a run game coordinator, who will typically have an OL related background as well or if you bring in someone with strong ol and run game concepts then compliment with someone more inventive in the passing game

As long as they work well together there isn't an issue

Correct. Cable actually called the running plays for Seattle as well as being the offensive line coach. He also had assistant head coach as his title.

Also, yes every team has a passing game coordinator and running game coordinator. What makes things weird is when they share play calling duties like Cable and Bevell did.

Bevel was the in-game playcaller. Can you even imagine the CF there would be if two dudes were in the QB's headset? "Are we running or passing, Pete?" "We're running! Go for Darrell!"

Interesting. Fraley and Randle-El would be a fun combination. I'd like to see that.

He also speculated that Jake Peetz, then Shotty, then Kubiak.....

Not sure how that creates a delay that lasts 3-4 days.

You guys are reading WAY more into it. Fraley and Kubiak haven't been swooped by anyone. Not just here in Seattle. It's not even Championship Sunday yet. Meh
Plus, come on Rat, you know that geMEH has NEVER been a part of a problem here in Seattle. It's strictly O Line and the OC.

The whole issue is just bent as far as I'm concerned.

I don't want OC by 'committee' FFS - ? After the stupidity of what's happened in the last 5 years at the position I simply want:

A leader at the position who can take charge. Have all the assistant coaches, passing coaches, running coaches, oline coaches, hairdresser coaches that you want. I want a smashmouth OC who knows what the **** his mission is to run a disciplined, focused on the fundamentals, balanced or slightly run heavy, CREATIVE offense.

Period. I don't want meetings and 'voting' for playcalls. I just ******* want it done. Properly. No window dressing or finger pointing.

And THIS type of bullshit is exactly why I think JS is beyond his expiry date. Stop being cute and get it done.

Happy to be wrong.

If you have two OCs, you don't have one.
