Seems to me he wants all his money up front, and guaranteed! Which makes me think he wants to be paid for what he did in college, because he hasn't done anything in his new job.
Giving these rookies all their money up front and guaranteed will only create mediocrity, why play hard if you've already been paid millions just show up?!

This kid COULD if he wanted, hold out the entire season.. and re enter the draft.

Thus far... I'm not too enthused about this kid... He's got the talent, but thus far proving to be if anything greedy? Poor wording but still outside of college he hasn't proven crap

Famously clean prospect Jalen Carter without so much as a red smudge on the highway his record
And technically it could be a waste if he sits out all season and reenters the draft.

I'm confused, I thought that rookie contracts were cut and dry now. I don't see how it can be about the money?

It's the bonus. The part that is negotiable is how and when the bonus is paid out. The hang up is about when Witherspoon actually gets the 20.1 million (or portions of the 20.1 million).

Seeing as how Drew Rosenhaus represents both Witherspoon and Carter… I hazard to guess this was inevitable whether it was Witherspoon or Carter.

Going to amend this: According to another website he’s represented by Tory Dandy and Randy Johnson. Haven’t seen Schefty or Brady reference his agent so not sure.

I don't care if he killed a Nordic God, he's leagues better and fills a much bigger need than Witherspoon will
Says man who didn't interview him and didn't have a full staff of people dissect his entire life when deciding whether or not to draft him

Sure, have your opinion, but know enough to know that you don't know as much as them

see maelstroms post below, its the bonus and how its paid is the hang up. The rook probably wants all if not a good portion upfront NOW

Without being privy to the details of the negotiations or knowing what the holdup is, it is unfair to put this entirely on the player; nor would it be fair to put this entirely on the team. Generally it is a little of both. Give and take here and there.

The best negotiations are where neither party feels like they won or lost.

I suppose that the unprecedented nature of the Derick Hall contract could be a factor here too. I don't know though.

First off, LOFL.

Secondly, someone get a vet like Kam or Wags to sit down with the kid and get his priorities straight. You want ypur money? Earn it. I'm sure JS is telling him, it's right here waiting, play your ass off and come take it.

Personally if you're not on board, feel free to kick rocks. I should mention, I say pay the man.

He didn’t want to come to Seattle, he told them the 405 is always to backed up and he can’t go 140.

But seriously the one guy he will always be tied to is Gonzalez, who so far has been tearing it up for the Patriots.
