That's good news ..... happy about Swoopes promotion and implied protection. I'll ad the tweet about Nazair Jones being placed on injured reserve for everyone's convenience.

Thanks Jville, am on the road right now and will update late tonight.

Too bad about Naz Jones, he played well until he got hurt and was a positive addition to the roster. Some other team may have been trying to snag Swoopes as there are now 4 TEs on the roster.

There is a chance Swoopes could be active for the season finale at Century Link ........

With tight ends Luke Willson and Nick Vannett both listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, the Seahawks made a roster move to add depth at that position, promoting rookie Tyrone Swoopes off the practice squad.
Willson sustained what Carroll described as a minor ankle sprain in Thursday’s practice and will be a gameday decision. Vannett was a late addition to the injury report Friday with a back injury.

Here is an interesting article on the state of the roster the team has 33 players presently under contract that are ERFAa, RFAs, or UFAs.

Lots of decisions to be made this offseason and lots of roster changes forthcoming.

Here's the link:

https://www.fieldgulls.com/2018/1/1/168 ... lson-walsh

The players are:

Exclusive Rights Free Agents (13)

Josh Forrest
Joey Hunt
Branden Jackson
Paul Dawson
Quinton Jefferson
Garrison Smith
Tyler Ott
J.D. McKissic
Tyrone Swoopes
Tyrus Thompson
Christian French
Jordan Simone
Akeem King

Restricted Free Agents (5)

Dewey McDonald
Dion Jordan
Justin Coleman
Mike Davis
Thomas Rawls

This season's tender numbers are:
A tender is an offer of a one year contract for a specific amount that is predetermined and uniform across the league. The three different tender levels are First Round tender ($3.91M for 2017; likely $4.1M - $4.25M for 2018), Second Round Tender ($2.746 million for 2017; likely $2.85M - $2.95M for 2018) and original round tender ($1.797M for the 2017; likely $1.9M - $2.0M for 2018).

Unrestricted Free Agents (19)

Jimmy Graham
Luke Joeckel
Eddie Lacy
Sheldon Richardson
Bradley McDougald
Luke Willson
Michael Wilhoite
Paul Richardson
Blair Walsh
Marcus Smith
Oday Aboushi
Matt Tobin
Terence Garvin
Austin Davis
Byron Maxwell
DeShawn Shead
Kache Palacio
Jason Thompson
Jalston Fowler

There a few names above that are significant FAs and with the large number of players out there as FAs of one type or another there will be a very large roster change going into next season. OTC says the the team presently has 37 players under contract for 2018.

Thanks Jville was waiting to see who would be offered a 'futures' contract from the PS.

Here are the six names extracted from the above linked info:

OT- Isaiah Battle,
OG- Willie Beavers,
QB- Trevone Boykin,
DB- Alex Carter,
WR- Cyril Grayson Jr.,
DE- Noble Nwachukwu.

All are developmental players save Boykin who has now served his seasonal penance for his stupidity and partying. I frankly think Boylin is a beter prospec fit for the team than Austin Davis but now his issues with probation have ended he should be free to compete next season to be RW's backup.

These players will be added to the team roster with an (F) designation beside theoir names.

All of the 2017 contracts should have been processed by now. The daily update from the NFLPA shows the Seahawks finishing the year over the cap by ($847,364). So $847,364 will be charged (subtracted) from a to-be-announced 2018 cap number for calculation of available cap and cap room. IIRC, exceeding the cap is something of a historic but necessary event for the Seattle Seahawks.

Isn’t that great, the team will carry over a negative cap balance to next years total. JS will really have to be creative to keep the strength of the team here.

There will be some familiar faces moved. It is inevitable.

The front page OP has been changed and updated to a post season format that will include all (F)utures deals and any signings that happen prior to the official end of the season. Additionally the IR, PUP, NFI ype players have been added to the roster with adjusted numbers for now

In total the team has 36 players who are free agents of one type or another. With just a quick glance I can see the team wanting to re-up 9 ERFAs, at least 3 RFAs, and 11 UFAs. However there may possibly be cap limitations preventing the above.

I don't see the team playing in the Free Agent markets very much this offseason. They could however move out a few of the veteran players who are underperforming their deals or who may allow the team some cap relief. It's very early yet.
