I think it's hilarious the people can just assume someone is "bandwagon" because they wear Hawks gear

I'm heading out to Vegas this weekend, will be decked out as usual in my gear, but fully expect a few comments about the Hawks. Oh well, I'll just tell them what I always tell someone who tries to make that comment, I've been a fan since 76 son.
Vegas is very Hawks friendly. Don't be surprised to hear a "Go Hawks" shouted in your general direction at the airport or casinos, or on the street. I'm always decked out in Hawks year when I go down there and the response 9 times out of 10 is positive.

I live in Vegas, and if I see people wearing Hawks gear I definitely give a hardy, "Go Hawks!" I also get the bandwagon thing once in a while, but screw em. World Champs Bitches!

I also don't get why any 12 would give anyone else crap for becoming a Hawk Fan. Better late than never. I always tell my friends that there is still plenty of room on the wagon - just hop on.

I was at LAX on a layover coming back from Peurto Vallerta (Which is Hawks country to be sure. Theres a pizza/brewpub down there [Los Meurtos] that is run by 12s for 12s, watched the Niners away game there) and our waitress at Ford's Filling Station is a Pats fan. She asked "Are there a lot of bandwagon fans now?" And I'm like "I hope so, the more the better". She had a quizzical look on her face after that.

Its strikes me as odd that a Pats fan is worried about bandwagon fans as if that is the worst problem of being a Pats fan (I've never met a bandwagon Pats fan btw. Also, how can you even have bandwagon fans after a 10 year run of greatness? You either are or you arent) I hope we never get to the point where we look down on people who find inspiration in the Seahawks for whatever reason.

I have been a Seahawks fan since 2002 and have maybe missed 1 or two games since. I always represent the 12s by either wearing a Seahawk shirt , hat or even having the Seahawks bumper stickers and license plate

But since we have won the Superbowl every where I go somebody hints or directly implies that I am a bandwagon fan. I usually smile and nod because I don't really feel the need to defend myself. Is this happening to anybody else not from the seattle area ?
Just say Yaaaand it feels so right :0190l:

Who cares what they think? Period. Some say it to me since I live in L.A. and I bought a hat with the SB logo on the side in the post-SB swag buying gluttony, but I just do the smile and give them a shrug.

Worse, imo is when irrational Seahawk fans start calling you names and questioning your fanhood because you don't agree with them about their paranoid views of the ongoing blatant oppression and crusade against the Seahawks by the NFL at large. Being objective apparently makes you a Niner's fan or a bandwagon fan etc.

Yeah, I've experienced this a handful of times. Usually from a fellow Seahawk fan who has had a few too many brews.

I guess I'm a bandwagon fan because I'm new.

Born and raised on Guam. Played basketball all my life and no football in my HS, so naturally didn't care. There's no NFL home team in Guam, so you root for whoever is good (bandwagon to the fullest extent).

Went to Gonzaga in 2001, again focus remained on basketball throughout that time period.

Moved to Seattle in 2005, we made it to SB, I watched the game, we lost. Went back to watching basketball.

Moved back to Guam in 2009, attended 2 Seahawks games right before I left, to finally experience what they were like. Fell in love with the Hawks at that point, and continued to watch the Hawks from Guam after that.

Moved back to Seattle in 2011 going into the 2012 season, bought Season Tickets because I promised myself I would if I ever moved back to Seattle. Seattle went from 7-9 to Playoffs, to SB win this year.

Seattle could have easily continued on with their 7-9 season into 2012. I can't help it if the team turned around and became good, but because of my timing I'm a bandwagonner in the eyes of many lifelong NFL fans. I guess I got lucky. I started paying attention to Mariner baseball this season after the Cano signing, they're .50 now, if they suddenly make a run and make it into the playoffs, I guess I'll be a bandwagonner too due to lucky timing.

I have lived in the Seattle area my whole life. I have been called a bandwagoner every year that the Hawks have had a decent season. My favorite are transplants who love to lecture about how they are the authority on how the Seahawks only have bandwagon fans based on their experiences.

If you fell in love with the Jim Mora Seahawks, that's about as opposite as you can get from being considered bandwagon. You certainly enjoyed a big helping of misery before the championship season.

Why wouldnt we attract lots of new fans? From the awesome uniforms, to the exciting way the team plays, and all the great personalities on this team? It's a very likable team.

Oh not to mention that little victory we just had. :D

Being from the Seattle area, born and raised I have always been a homer in every sport. Being 32 I wasn't alive for the entire run the franchise, but I was at a Hawks game in the womb and have been a fan since day one. When people attempt to question me on my Seahawks "fandom" I usually pop off with something like this.

What position did Paul Skansi play? Or, What you know bout Stan Gelbaugh? Stuff like that. It is funny the looks people give me when I say things like that, especially if it's another Hawks fan trying to question me. It usually shuts them up and I tell them to google it, because I was stuck growing up with it.

I mostly see people being called bandwagon fans on the interenet, where I pretty much disregard most things being said. Most people will say something over the net which they don't have the nuts to say face to face so I discount most of it entirely.

A lot of fans are calling ALL Seahawks fans bandwagon fans after the Great Thumping (SuperBowl). Thing is, many Seattle fans bitched that the rest of the country didn't know who we were and disrespected our team, so it's likely that no one really understands the passion we have up here.

To me, it's the same thing as other fans discounting how loud we get at the CLink. Or they claim we pipe noise in. Either way, it's either ignorance or jealousy.

To the OP......do YOU feel like a bandwagon fan ? If you feel you represent, scrrew everyone else.

Don't care if anyone calls me a bandwagon fan (technically I guess I am one). I'm quite happy to tell everyone that I followed Pete to the team because I knew he'd be successful and I wanted to be a part of that. I expected this team to become good. I expected them to win a Super Bowl. And I expect if any team can repeat and win multiple SBs, it'll be this one.

Always Compete! Go Hawks!

TRUE bandwagon fans at beach yesterday. Guy and his wife stroll over to ask us if the area is safe for swimming (hell no). She is wearing a t-shirt featuring the Space needle. They confirm they are from Seattle and I ask if they are Hawk fans (which should be a dumb question). The guy says "we were this year". End of conversation. Enjoy your swim.

I started the same post back in Feb. My loyalty was questioned and I explained that I was a fan from day 1.
Later, it pissed me off that I was doubted.

Now, I feel that it doesn't really matter if you followed the team from day 1 or after our big victory.
There is always room for more fans, as long as they stay on the bandwagon if things go south!

The question itself isn't really that bad. We all know a "fan" who doesn't follow the NFL but watches every SB or World Series or NBA championship series and runs out and buys the champions merchandise. That same person then struts around for a year with the champions gear and tries to talk smack about the local market team. They don't know jack about the history of the team and don't care. The way I see it, if some one asks that question they are really asking if you are like that person they "we all" know. The reason they are asking is because the local market team didn't take the ring that year. If they did they wouldn't care, just like we don't. There are a couple of markets that are "different" than the big markets and Seattle is one of them. Imagine if the Cleveland Browns won a SB, the same thing would be happening to any Browns fan outside of Cleveland. Unfortunately that is how the Hawks were looked at for almost all of their existence.

If your posting on this site your not a bandwagon fan, even if you started following the Hawks in 2013. Some of us that have been Hawk fans since day one can feel like we can enjoy the 1st Lombardi more than others as they (me included) watched a lot of bad teams, piss poor ownership, bad coaching, bad drafts, no media coverage and basic indifference by the NFL of our beloved Hawks.

If you just started following the Hawks, good for you. The more fans the Hawks have means more people watching, equals more attention from the NFL and it's media machine.

This is just my opinion formed over 44 years of being a homer Seattle sports fan. Dam it still feels GREAT TO BE A SB CHAMPION!! Welcome aboard, bring your friends.

Not for me when I was down there a couple years ago. Had a bunch of Ravens fans behind me at the MGM sports books. They were all obnoxious and rowdy. When we won I just stood up and flipped my Sonics hat backwards. Didn't even turn around. It was funny as hell what they were yelling at me.

Not to me. I live in the middle of Seahawk country, so wearing Seahawk apparel is quite acceptable, almost the norm now that we've won the SB. As a matter of fact, when I travel, I use my Seahawk apparel to identify where I'm from. I hooked up with a couple of guys from Minnesota a couple of weeks ago when I was in Hawaii simply because they recognized my Seahawks cap and commented. It's a good icebreaker. I've been a Seahawk fan from the get go, in 1976.

I don't mind those who wish to promote the Seahawks when they win. But, like many have shared, it's disappointing when you try to get into a conversation only to find out they just want to puff themselves up by associating with a winner. It's when a team is struggling or a Super Bowl Champion faces any adversity that you easily spot those folks you suspect to be band-wagoners. They will have exchanged their Hawks gear for the the flavor-of-the-month team.

Only those who don't know me very well dare to insinuate that I'm not a true Hawks fan. But, one guy really blew it when he dared to try to go there with me. A football coach recruiting for a new team he is going to coach (and familiar with my sons) made some comment about me never wearing Hawks gear. (I don't have much else other than that to wear, to tell you the truth. So, perhaps more importantly for him... he might need to get his eyes checked.) Anway... after popping off to me, he tried to recruit my son away from his current team to be his teams' starting QB and even offered to take care of all fees. Man, I had to be honest. I told him while it's flattering that he wants my son to play for him, I responded, "Now let me get this straight. You start by insisting that I'm jumping on some bandwagon, then about beg me to have my son play for you?" :179419: The more we talked (as he was a bit more persistent in his recruiting effort), the more he realized the error in his approach.
