Great news, Donatell is one of the great defensive minds in the league.

And from all accounts, players LOVE the guy. Still doesn't mean he won't end up being the DC, but having him here should be a very good thing.

Passing game coordinator, maybe? It's possible Donatell didn't want such a senior role. He's got to be closing in on seventy.

I've read that Miami (university) has interviewed Hurtt for their DC job.

This is a worthwhile read: https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/gm-repo ... -a-problem

"The delay in the Seahawks’ hires will soon start to prove problematic. The all-star collegiate events of the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl are underway. In addition to draft scouting, Seattle must also make decisions on which players to retain and add in free agency. While this is work largely for the front office, the coaching staff’s input is still vital."

I'd have to think, aside from maybe final decisions on FAs, they've got all this work done already, senior bowl etc is more about solidifying opinions for PCJS right?

Hurtt may want to be retained and keeping the DC title open so he can't be poached lets say gives the Seahawks a ace in the hole for promotion if he doesn't go to Miami. Donatell is probably getting a nice payday as a Defensive Advisor also, he can step away without major disruptions in continuity in that role.

I take it to mean Pete was forced to let go a bit and focus on being a people leader. Not a puppet master for the OC/DC. At least I hope thats the case.

I posted this before, but I think their strategy is to bring in a younger guy who they think can not only fill the DC role, but ultimately potentially be groomed for the HC job. Surrounding him with minds like Carroll's and Donatell's is smart of that's indeed what is happening.

So they are bringing in Donatell (official title still unclear), promoting The Big Hurtt to DC and adding Desai as defensive passing game coordinator. Interesting.

Well, I guess you could say that Dan Quinn qasnt Dan Quinn before he was elevated from the same position Clint holds now.

And he will have the benefit of the some great football minds to help him. I think he was also a Fangio understudy with the Bears.

Trying to stay positive...

I kind of like the idea of promoting Hurtt to DC, and bringing in an old school mind like Donatell as an advisor/mentor. We get the benefit of promoting from within AND the benefit of bringing in an outside mind who might bring in some new ideas and fresh insight. I actually don't buy that we have a huge talent deficit on our team. I think that the guys we have now (assuming we retain some of them ;)) can do much better than they did in 2021. That doesn't mean I don't think we could use an infusion of good players, I'm all for that.

Interesting developments indeed. This article mentions Donatell in a senior role so possibly a consultant perhaps or maybe personnel director. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...-coordinator/ar-AATtUBY?ocid=hponeservicefeed

About Desai, I saw an article on MSN yesterday saying he was the new Raiders DC. So that is interesting if he decides to take a lesser role with the Seahawks.

Raiders only interviewed him. I think they want Patrick Graham now that Graham struck out on a head coach job.

Ahh..ok. This piece of news was a bit premature then - https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...-coordinator-sean-desai/ar-AATrNLu?li=BBnbfcL

Clarity on this will happen soon.

Can't believe that the addition of Donatell to the coaching staff will be a bad addition in any way.
