Keep in mind that the Seahawks/Caroll had a good look at Haynes and could have kept him.

Caroll referred to him as an "incredible athlete".

Not sure but I think he came to the NFL as a Seahawks fan:

He definitely knew Waisale Serevi who was involved with the Seahawks as a tackling coach who was a foot in the door for Hayne trying to break in the NFL....

Hayne's 49ers jersey was available at the 49ers pro store after his 2nd ever game during pre-season:

Listen to what John Madden has to say about him:

Players tend to try extra hard when they play against teams that passed them up.

Can't wait to see him against the Seahawks.

Good vision, as I see him make moves on defenders even when he doesn't turn his head to "see" them.
As mentioned he's slippery and makes great cuts against a defender's momentum.
Unlike someone we know, he's great at shifting the ball to the appropriate hand. Almost a reflex, as he does it with incoming traffic (e.g. see the video of him stiff arming a Dallas defender and he shifted the ball right before).

Too upright running style which opens him up to getting stumped.

Gotta admit, nerves must be getting to him.

Don't think it was nerves. I just think the ball got caught up in the air and he misjudged it and it ate him up.

FWIW they didn't pull Hayne after the fumble. He was back there for the next two, and then got replaced with Ellington after that due to a penalty and re-kick. By that point Bush was out and he was the only back after Hyde on the 46, so I think they were just preserving him to spell Hyde.

If he does it again I think he'll be in trouble, but I'm not too concerened about it, particularly because I don't think Ellington is much of a drop off as a PR (if a drop off at all, he might better even, but turning Australia into 9ers country is a pretty powerful incentive).
