Number should be retired.
He wore it proudly for many years. It's not common in this league where a qb plays on same team for so many years. He played hard and hurt.

Great memories of him sliding into the end zone against Washington after he took team on his back when Shaun went down early in game.

A few years later.. he escorted another 'Shawn on the beast quake run with his fist in the air.

Two of our greatest eras... Shaun to"'Shawn"... Matt was there to lead us.

Retire his number? That's dumb

Well..
I don't think anyone has worn number 8 since he's left so I'm probably not the only one that has this idea

One of my favorite Seahawks for sure. I'm all for his inclusion in the Ring of Honor.

Good luck at ESPN, Matt. They're lucky to have you.

I really, really hope it's true that he will retire a Seahawk. I loved Matt. Ring of Honor for sure.

Absolutely.

Matt (or Matthew as Raibs so lovingly calls you by).

He calls him Matthew because in an interview once I recall him saying that he's never told anyone in his life that he wants to be called Matt and actually prefers to be called Matthew. He's just a nice enough guy to not correct people or make a big deal about it.

GReat to know, when I started watching the Hawks Hasslebeck and Julius Jones were literally all the offense was for the most part.... okay mostly Julius Jones but still, 08/09 is long time ago now, in a couple years 08 will be a decade ago... crazy, nostalgia.

Probably just wait about 20 years before using #8 again, like #10 and #17. You really cant keep retiring numbers or you run out. That is why they are numbers.

When u think of seahawk qbs u have only 2 on that list to make the superbowl and I will say while at the end here for hass I was saying move on. I will look at him as the guy that took this franchise that was an after thought said lets go boys and did things offensively that we have never seen here for that im so greatfull here's to you Matthew for being the
qb that we deserved for many years and the guy that made the seahawks fun and legit

That's why they should start allowing decimals in their numbers.
