In the past 20 seasons, the NFC West is 1-7 in Super Bowls - 2 losses each for the Seahawks, Rams and Niners and the one for the Cardinals.
Interesting that the West has repped the NFC 40% of the time over the past 20 seasons. The NFC South has 5 appearances, the North has 2 and the East has 5.
Strangely, the Giants are tied with Seattle for the most appearances at 3 since 2000.
It's also interesting HOW the West has lost:
2001 - Rams lose as 14 point favorites, Tom Brady is born
2005 - no need to talk about this one, but obviously some still aren't over it
2008 - Card outplayed the Steelers but Warner's goal line pick 6 ended up losing them the game
2012 - the random black out that almost helped the Niners come back and win it
2014 - Seahawks blow 10 point 4th quarter lead
2018 - Rams don't even score a TD
2019 - Niners blow 10 point 4th quarter lead
Also of note: over the past 20 seasons, 12/16 NFC teams at least made the Super Bowl - all of the West and South, as well as the Eagles, Giants, Bears and Packers - only the Lions, Vikings, Redskins and Cowboys (haha) didn't make it.
On the other side it was only the Ravens, Pats, Steelers, Broncos and Colts prior to the Chiefs making it.
