Without even going into the backups on the roster, one option could be Avril at Clemons' spot on early downs with Bennett on the other side, then on the passing downs, Bennett moves inside, Avril shifts to Bennett's spot while Irvin slides up from SAM to LEO with Smith stepping in at LB for Irvin (assuming Irvin is still the SAM starter over Smith). That's a pretty decent pass rush.

I have been thinking that will happen and that on passing downs they will FEAST.....

Or Benson Mayowa at LEO. . . He was looking like a 22-year-old Chris Clemons during the preseason. Now that he has a year of experience under his belt, he could breakout this year. I would imagine releasing Clemons and low-balling Allen was at least in part related to the potential they saw in Mayowa, in the same way not re-signing Breno was related to the potential they saw in Michael Bowie.

Mayowa has a year of experience under his belt? Practice experience?

People who aren't concerned are kidding themselves. Where's Red to stop the run on 1st and 2nd down to setup our pass rush? Oh yeah. Where's the exceptional and PROVEN depth in Clem? Doesn't exist except for in unproven rookies. Crowning players like Scruggs/Williams/Mayowa as if they will succeed no matter what, is a joke really. I am highly concerned.

Would it surprise you that Red Bryant didn't play one snap in the entire first quarter of the Super Bowl?

Considering the Broncos ran 7 offensive plays in the first quarter, not really.

It's not really about number of snaps, it's about the offense you're playing and tendencies. They're a spread out heavy pass offense, that's why he didn't play a lot of snaps in the SB.

towards the latter half of the season, forgot who said it but, Bennett was taking half Red's snaps away from him.

Bennett better get his conditioning going this year because he's going to get more than 60% of snaps this year! Same with Avril!

Yes, a year of experience learning this system, getting stronger, and developing pass rushing moves under the coaches.

Yep, practice experience.

Not a substitute for game experience.

Mayowa also got some simulated game experience in those four preseason games in which he had 11 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble and recovery. Then Avril took Mayowa's spot in the rotation once he made his debut against SF.

Look at Avril's tweet about Mayowa from a month ago: https://twitter.com/cliffavril/status/4 ... 1342964736

"Most promising young d-lineman on the team."

Would they have released Clemons if they did not think Mayowa had the potential to play at a high level?
