I literally cried when I heard that phone conversation between JS/PC and Tedric. Like Rees and CJ last year this guy is truly grateful to be a Hawk. Love it.

What's the average "bouncing in the playoffs" tier in the John Schneider/Pete Carroll era compared to say, any other era of Seahawks football? Your choice. Any one you want for comparison.

Great another guy who's perfectly content to just make the playoffs because the team stunk in the 90's.

2015 10-6 lost to Panthers 2nd round 31-24 in a game in which the Panthers took their foot off the throttle in the 2nd half or they could have put up 50 on us.

2016 10-5-1 took a severe beating in the 2nd round by the Falcons 36-20.

See a pattern here? If your fine with getting booted in the 2nd round than thats cool, but i'm not. The team wont go any further in the playoffs until the lines fixed and guess what didnt get fixed this season?

Yes, the pattern is, we need to improve our DEFENSE!

Giving up 31 points! 36 points! Opposing teams passing all over the yard!

Sounds to me like we need pass rush and DBs!

Yet in other recent threads, the argument is all about how the offense is the root cause of ruining things for our elite defense. Last 4 playoff losses - Points allowed: 30, 28, 31, 36

The big difference between the 2013 team and the ones since - The defensive line. The 2013 team was legitimately 8/9 deep with quality players. I can argue that the depleted DL depth was the MAIN cause of the SB 49 loss.
Give that man a cookie. You nailed it we need interior pass rush in the worst way. I think McDowell will transform this defense back to 2013 with some ballhawks in the secondary...hmm interesting yes?

He ran 4.60 40yd dash which to me seems slow for an FS. I hope he can overcome his lack of speed in the NFL. Terrell is reported to run in 4.3s for 40 and he repeatedly got beat. Picking Tedric with Eddie Jackson still on the board was shocking to me.

Speed can help you make up for mistakes, but not making mistakes and having good instincts trump speed almost any day.

Sure a lack of speed can hurt you against elite athletes, but I'd rather have an instinctive FS that takes good angles and minimizes mistakes than a burner. See your Terrell comparison.

Tedric Thompson, S, Colorado (Round 4, pick No. 111)

Thompson won the PFF College Coverage Player of the Year award after picking off seven passes and breaking up seven more. He played both free safety and over the slot at Colorado, showing his center-field skills to read and make plays on the ball and the coverage skills to hold his own in the slot. That versatility will be coveted in the Seattle secondary, where Thompson can cross-train and provide valuable at multiple spots. He may have to wait his turn to see the field in Seattle, but Thompson would have started for a number of teams if he landed in a different place.

The game changed instantly the moment Avril was taken out of that game. He was destroying the pats o line, and opening things up for other guys. When he came out, it put more pressure on the lob, which in turn exposed all of the serious injuries those dudes played with. Richard, a torn up elbow. Kam, torn ligaments in his knee, and Earl with his torn labrum. Not to mention Lanes injury, which allowed Brady and Edelman to destroy Simon. This is the reason they were even in the position to lose in the first place.

Simon was injured going into that game as well.

And Jeremy Lane, broken arm

Just rewatched the Pac 12 Championship. As much as I liked watching UW kick the crap out of Colorado Tedric did not stand out at all. He was only near the ball 3 times and got a PI in the first play of the game.

He filled the hole on two run plays and both times Gaskin got the better of him. It is only one game and the whole defense played like poo but I saw Witherspoon make two really good plays on the ball.

Anyone know of a game where Thompson showed favorably?

I think some are confused about the concussion history of Tedric. The way I read it, he didn't have 4 concussions, but rather had 1 concussion in 2014 that sent him to the hospital and forced him to miss the final 4 games of the season.

I doubt he'd still be playing if he had 4 concussions.

I was confused about that too. One of the on-air people said that he had 4 concussions. But you are right he had one serious one in 2014 that caused him to miss 4 games. He has played every game over the past two seasons 2015/2016.

This.

I head one of the ESPN panelists state four concussions. Damn fake news!!

Probably just an honest mistake. Misreading the teleprompter.

I think it's fake news because I'm fairly certain they said four concussions on NFL Network too.

Thompson would have been taken before Jamal Adams if it wasn't for his dozens of concussions. He might be the safety equivalent of Austin Collie, but he's a good gamble in the 4th.

From 4 to dozens, he will have had his head decapitated and sewn back on by the time the season starts. :p

Top Safety prospects - ranked by 10 yard splits. (xxx) = 4/24/17 cbssports.com ranking. I'm not sure exactly what this is showing other than the variability between 40 times and actual 10 yard get off times that imply the 40 yard dash isn't the end all, be all. Also consider that all running stats come from the 40-yard dash which is a track thing, not necessarily a football thing so times are impacted by training (or lack thereof) and constant repetition (or lack thereof) with unnatural non-football moves that post combine they are unlikely to ever have to do again. Note, many 10-yd times are close.
