Is there something I'm missing here? This seems like an obvious solution to the problem of what to do with Pryor. I don't think he's ready to be a #2, and I think Jackson is a very servicable back-up. I think Pryor has room to grow, and could become a very threatening backup. Plus, having him imitate Kap in practice should be very useful. I think BJD has a lot of potential, and he showed that he is a great understudy for Russel, but I don't think he has the potential that Pryor does.
Is Pryor elligible for the practice squad?
I think this is a good move because:
* Jackson has one more year left on his contract, and all the money is guranteed so there is no savings
* Jackson is a solid backup, and I think he's more reliable than Pryor
* The practice squad was just expanded, so it's less painful to stash Pryor there
* Pryor can be a fake Kap for practicing up for the 9ers
* Pete and co. might be able to groom Pryor into a very dangerous #2 for next year
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been wondering about this for a while.
