Since Harvin signed a 6-years, $67 million contract with us this season, how will it hinder us next year?

1. Tate signed a four-year deal worth $3.261 million. Some of us are thinking that he was average for 2 years and just earned his contract, and because he played mediocre for the first 2 years, he should get a discount for a contract extension. Early this season, tate said that he would take a lesser pay to stay with the Seahawks, but honestly with Rice and Harvin being paid top notch, Teams will pay for Tate and they view him as a younger version of Hines Ward.

IMO Tate will probably receive more than Rice got and will get like 8-9mill a year.

2. Baldwin, was signed 3 year deal worth 1.4 million (Peanut money) RFA next season, so pretty much 2.8-3mill tender.

Note more important FA:

Steven Hauschka
Walter Thurmond
Breno Giacomini
Michael Bennett
Tony McDaniel

Player Cap Number Dead Money Cap Relief
Chris Clemons $9,666,668 $2,166,668 $7,500,000
Sidney Rice $9,700,000 $2,400,000 $7,300,000
Cliff Avril $9,250,000 $2,250,000 $7,000,000
Red Bryant $8,500,000 $3,000,000 $5,500,000
Brandon Mebane $5,700,000 $400,000 $5,300,000
Zach Miller $7,000,000 $2,000,000 $5,000,000
Marshawn Lynch $7,000,000 $3,000,000 $4,000,000

This season I can see the Hawks FO cut Clemons and Rice. Lynch possibility and Miller next season.

lol@ Tate getting offered 8-9 mil a year

he's not on the team next season even at 6-7 mil per year, and even 4-5 is really pushing it in my opinion

and the thought of cutting lynch to save 4 mil is beyond ludicrous

Rice probably gets cut, Miller/Clemons restructure, possibly Red as well

Top notch in PR YAC and solid Rec and TD's and you're saying 4-5 is pushing it???

Cutting Lynch is the possibility in letting Turbin and Michael starting

Lynch's contract

2012 - $4M
2013 - $7M
2014 - $5M
2015 - $5.5M

2014 - $7.0M (if he plays all 16 games) Also: The deal includes $500k in roster bonuses in 2014 and $2M in roster bonuses in 2015.
2015 - $9.0M (if he plays all 16 games) (If he played 8 games in 2015 his cap number would be $8.0M)

Lynch isn't going anywhere. Where would San Francisco be right now if they had cut Frank Gore two years ago when he was Lynch's age? You're worrying about $7.5 million for the second best offensive player on your team?

Tate won't command $8-9 million, and a team would be insane to pay that much. Hartline/Amendola/Welker each make somewhere in the $6 million/year range. Hard to say if he's considered better than those guys by people outside of Seattle. Very plausible that the market sets him somewhere below that. Depends on how he finishes out the year and playoffs.

Let's see Amendola had 63 Rec 666 yards and 2 TD's. Last season. 4.2 YAC average, I don't see any special around him.

Now you're comparing to Wes Welker 32 years old?????

Amendola only played 11 games last year. If you calculate his average over an entire season, he's close to 1,000 yards and over 90 catches. Besides, anyone who actually watched him play could tell he was a very dangerous receiver. The only issue for him has been injuries.

Which is why he doesn't make that much, because he has never once been able to stay healthy.

for US, not in FA, simply due to cap reasons.

I'd say 4-5 we probably keep him, but he's not worth 6-7 when we have bigger concerns.

EDIT: Would you rather pay 4-5 for tate, or 6-7 for bennett, thats the kind of choice theyre gonna have to make, imo tate is more easily draft replacable than a guy like bennett or whatever FA coming up you wanna name

I think Tate gets 5-6m a year and that's what John Clayton thought also. Rice and Clemons are likely gone and maybe Miller restructures. Big contracts for Sherm and ET. That will just about eat up all the cap. Percy's number next year is 13.7m and that's a lot, gonna hinder us for a while.

Have you ever seen the contracts of.

Greg Jennings. five-year contract worth up to $47.5 million.
Devin Hester, 4 years / $40.98 million
Lee Evans, four-year, $37.25 million contract extension
Victor Cruz five-year, $43 million extension
Pierre Garcon 5 year 42.5 mill

So they're overpaid especially Jennings, Hester and Evans. Cruz and Garcon are paid fair considering they are focal points of their respective offenses. Tate isn't. And never will be here given that will be Percy's job. And whatever big tall outside WR they draft/trade/or sign as FA. That's how Pete's offense rolls and what he will pay the money for.

Don't hate the messenger hate the message.

Frankly, ive thought of this.

Tate has currently made:

Year 1: 570, 000
Year 2: 700, 000
Year 3: 790, 000
Year 4: 880, 000

1 million signing bonus.

Would he re-sign with the Seahawks for:

Year 1: 5.7 mil
Year 2: 7.0 mil
Year 3: 7.9 mil
Year 4: 8.8 mil
Year 5: 9.6 mil

5 years, 39 million w/ 13 million guaranteed (7.8 per year)

With Baldwin same thing magnify is rookie money into the millions.

Y1: 3.9 mil
Y2: 4.9 mil
Y3: 5.7 mil
Y4: 7.0 mil
Y5: 7.9 mil

5 years, 29.4 mil w/ 17 million guaranteed (less money than Tate because he's getting "paid " a year earlier but more guaranteed money for a more impressive body of work.

Also, I would like to see Brandon Mebane traded for a 3rd or 4th rounder,he has a very friendly contract and both McDonald and McDaniel can been retained for much cheaper.

Bryant cut or restructured.

Miller cut or restructured.

Okung cut or restructred (makes 12 mil in 2014).

Rice and Clemons cut indefinately.

Lynch, Harvin, and Avril will be gone after 2014, would be my guess.

Bennett comes back on a reverse Lynch contract of 4 yrs, 30 mil.

Year 1: 9 mil
Year 2: 7 mil
Year 3: 8.5 mil
Year 4: 5.5 mil

I've also wondered if Richard Sherman (5yrs, 50 mil) and Earl Thomas (5 yrs, 40 mil) would both sign for that money if it meant they'd both received 20-25 million guaranteed in their first two seasons on top of a protrated signing bonus in the final 3. Kind of a hometown discount but at the same time you're going to make 20-25 million in two years guaranteed, no matter what happens. And keeping the legacy of the Legion of Boom together would be priceless.

I can't believe how much some of you are grossly overvaluing tate, if a team offers him 7-8 mil per year I would be FURIOUS if we matched

there's this crazy thing called the draft where you can easily find talent with a late first round pick at WR.

Jesus this is his best year thus far and he might not crack 800 yards
