so what is the point or purpose of the dvd? its to remember and commerate the year. IMO you DO NOT need to be mindless and just buy it just because. That youtube video linked from the other thread is A M A Z I N G, it shows tv highlights of every game. This is awesome to me because i can remember how i felt for like every game because its the same footage I watched when it was live. i guess one could have both.
It's not mindless. It's worth it for the other stuff included on there as well, and the fact that it has high-quality 5.1 surround sound audio, etc.

This is some shameful ish...

Get it just to have in your collection.

Sure, the clarity of the Blu-ray video is not the best on 1080P. Even if you have the latest and greatest equipment, you're going to be a little taken by the pixilation here and there. I blame it on the speed they used to record the mass-quantities of units. Put in a latest-edition movie and you know it's not your gear or your settings.

There are some spectacular moments from the season that you need to have in one neat and tidy place to back up all the stories you will be telling your grandchildren. "I remember back in 2013, Percy Baldwin caught this pass in triple-coverage to win the Snapple Bowl". "No Grandpa, it was Doug Baldwin against the Bucs, and Percy Harvin ran back a kickoff in the Super Bowl for a TD". "Did you forget to take your meds Grandpa...?"

He was talking about downloading and burning the "unfinished business" video. The site he originally linked was a phishing site, but it was an obvious mistake. He was just saying that instead of spending $22 was to burn a copy of the other video (which some of us feel is way better).

I remember a few years back, we had a thread where the point was to list what we would give up to win the Lombardi. People were saying their car, their first-born kid, their wife, a thousand bucks, etc.

If that thread was still around, I would go find it and then see who's questioning buying the Blu-ray disc now, and do some serious public shaming.

Why buy the blu ray so you can watch it forever in glorious HD on your 60 inch plasma that includes lots of cool extras, when you can DL a youtube video that'll get corrupted or lost forever when your computer craps the bed in 18 months.

When I was a kid I would watch NFL films reruns from the 70-90s and I remember how great everything looked in slow motion up close. Grass and dirt flying around with that 70ish classical music. They always did great at making the crescendo match a huge hit or play. I loved them, and learned a lot about the history of the game. I always longed to see one from my team winning the superbowl. Now I have one and love it.
Nostalgia.

Commercialism at its finest.

Why is owning the bluray (which I do anyway) anymore valuable then burning a copy of (the better) "unfinished business"?

I mean honestly. Like already said, why does it bother you how someone remembers it happening. And since when did a burned copy become so much more meaningless then a overpriced piece of merchandise? Are you guys better fans because you paid the NfL more money?

I'm a business owner, I would be very angry if my clients found a way to get what I'm selling them for free somewhere else..........illegally.

You can't just say "well it's the NFL, they make billions, so what's a couple thousand illegal DL's going to affect them?" If it's a good product, then we should support good products so those good products continue to be made. If it's a bad product, then don't support the business.

Bottom line for me, if everyone had your mentality then SB Blu Rays wouldn't exist. It's not a I'm a better fan, it's a let's reward the NFL for making a really good product so they continue to do so.

Stop comparing them against each other. They are not competing products. Plus, there are big quality differences between the two.

Also, yes, we are better fans for having purchased this.

What are you talking about? Who's getting what illegally? This is the problem. You don't even know what's going on.

No one said anything about pirating or coping the NFL Films video. We're talking about liking the other video that's free and better. We're talking about not wasting money on inferior product. We're comparing the two as memorabilia and the worth of both.

"Unfinished Business" aka the 1 hr 15 minute fan made season video. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92201

Not the NFL Films bluray. When the OP asked if it was worth it, the argument was made by me and another that this video was superior and free.

I would argue that they are competing products. They may not compete in pricing since one is free, but they are essentially the same exact thing. Year long season highlights of every game. The bluray has some extra interviews and extra sound fx. That's about the only difference.

For someone who is so against brand loyalty (iRo), you sure are drinking the must have NFL version of everything to be a good fan. If it doesn't have the Apple symbo... Ohh, I mean NFL Logo, then it's an inferior product, right?

It's worth it! I've watched it a couple dozen times and will watch hundreds of more times easy.

Open the YouTube rip in VLC, right-click the video, go to Tools, then click Codec Information and tell me what the values are for codec, channels, and bitrate on the primary audio stream. I'm guessing it's probably stereo and a mediocre bitrate, for example. You know what I like? 5.1 audio, be it through DTS or a different codec, with at least a 768 kbps variable bitrate or a 1,536 kbps constant bitrate.

Again, you don't actually read what I say, you just reinterpret things I say to suit your needs. Go back and check that thread. I said brand loyalty is fine as long as it's realistically warranted. I'm actually a fan of brand loyalty, but it's a complicated issue to define. There's certainly a lot more to it than how effective the company's advertising is, or how cool you feel flashing the product around at Starbucks.

Got it. Audio is the main thing you're concerned about. Some people don't concern themselves with such minor differences, especially when watching a highlight video, but to win your argument, you do like to go that extra mile. It's not like the audio is some distorted crap shoot. It's pretty decent for any mild manner person.

I'm starting to realize just how petty your stance on certain things can be. It's got to be a lonely world you live in.

I didn't say it was some critical component. I'm just saying it's part of the experience, and saying there's virtually no difference is just misleading.

It's not petty, it's just a pure fact. How much it matters is up to each individual person. I'm simply not a fan of you masquerading your opinion as fact for everyone else to agree with.

Didn't say my opinion was fact. Didn't say there was "virtually no difference". Pretty sure I said the difference was minimal. Which it is. Pretty sure I said most people could care less between the two. Which I think even you could agree is true.

It's ok Roland. It's ok.

It's not your fault.

It's not your fault.

It's not your fault.

No no no. Listen. It's not your fault.

No, you merely imply it and act like it. You're right.

As if there's a remotely meaningful difference between "virtually no difference" and "the difference was minimal"? Kind of funny coming from you, since you accuse me of nitpicking or doing ridiculous stuff to try and "win" arguments. Also, you're right, I think many people could care less; but that's because you mean the opposite of what "could care less" actually means. If you're having trouble following that, then take a moment to realize that the phrase is "couldn't care less", instead.

Say whatever you want in response, but I'm not going to reply to you further in the main forum about it.
